I wonder if 64GB SSD is worth it? hmm.gif
*
even i have 2 slots of HDD, 64GBs of SSD + 500GBs of 7200 HDD is still insufficient.

at least go for 160Gbs.

They say most probably will be i3/i5.

Because i7 ULV cost is quite high, if they include it on m11x will cause m11x price match with m15x price which is something will not happen.

Only hope for current user is , if dell design the new mobo and port same size with the current one. Then it will have at least a little hope for current user to change the entire mobo.
*
don't worry about the cost will touch M15x. the most common solution for that is lower down the current price. like my case M17x-R1. i did brought it around 11k, but once M17x-R2 come out, my specs already around 8k (before C2D and C2Q is kicked out from options)

changing the whole mobo..? hmm.. if you got bucks and gut like GreaseMonkey90, then you are one of the enthusiast.

replacing the mobo under the Complete Cover warranty as self-replace?
*
by self-replace, you mean you upgrade the system personally right?

so nope. your warranty is limited to your initial specs. only RAM and HDD is the upgradable part. i email head of technician a years ago when wanted to upgrade my processor from Q9000 to QX9300.

but Putochip123 claimed is can be done under the warranty. i don't know about that, but what i know my source is kinda solid to be trust, not just by word.

self-replace = upgrade system personally, yes exactly what i mean.

but i am thinking is, what if my mobo or proc was faulty (let's say, by end of this year once the M11x refresh was launched), will Dell replace a new mobo with the i3/i5 proc (assuming SU7300 is longer in production)?
*
well your luck must be very good then! biggrin.gif

yes it is possible.

says who?

Core i7-600UM – 32nm Arrandale, dual core with HTT, 1.06-1.20GHz, 4MB L3 cache, 2500MHz DMI, Turbo @ 2.13-2.26GHz, GPU @ 500MHz, 18W TDP
Core i5-500UM - 32nm Arrandale, dual core with HTT, 1.06GHz, 3MB L3 cache, 2500MHz DMI, Turbo @ 1.83GHz, GPU @ 500MHz, 18W TDP

both of them still in Ultra Low Voltage group. looks like its free to go for me.

but u prefer more to the proccesor or graphic card being changed to a better one??

i mean..pick one. tat effect more of ur gaming fps n bla bla speed =D
(i din't know anything much bout pc actualy. haha)
*
either one is fine for me. but the answer is surely bias more for GPU since its the stress source when gaming.

but remember, we are talking about M11x right now. GT335M is already shocking enough can be equipped within it, stable in term of performance and heat.

m11x with core i7 (even i5 520m will be good enough) will be great. hope the price doesnt increase much
*
the new price will be maxed at the current maxed price.

and the current maxed price will be reduce a bit, or totally stroked from the option.

i7 on m11x? the current generation m11x is already running pretty well & pretty hot in term of heat.. i cant imagine how much hot heat coming from m11x with i7...
*
the different between current M11x CPU and i5/i7 Ultra Low Voltage TDP's is not much different - which make me thinks its still manageable.

err just ask the stable clock from M15x around here and OC using Nvidia Control Panel for the easiest way.

/checkout your WTB thread dude biggrin.gif

wah thanks for the information.... dell repaced yours with new heatsink? how to request them to change? hehe
*
call and complaint about overheating and decrement of performance to Dell.

you might want to tell them that other M15x users (eg - Julchin_09) did happened the same thing and Dell replace GPU and mobo to him. maybe by telling them that, they have rough idea what kind of problem that you faced.

Hi gurus,

Need some recommendation. Which is 1 preferred for M17x, in terms of performance?

1) I7 with 5870 gc
2) Q9100 with SLI 280m gc

I need to choose one but confused rclxub.gif
*
real man use real core dude. so take Q9100. GTX280M SLi is already powerful enough to pawn every games out there.

anyway, where do you found M17x-R1 with Quad Core? old product? hmm.gif
