QUOTE(insane.gamer @ Sep 23 2010, 12:16 AM)
who already got the game?
how is it so far? controls?
*
I don't know how I'd speak on the controls.
Because in racing games, controls are a little more on a subjective manner.

To me, the controls felt really really good and tight (as in solid) on the DS3.
I have not tried it with a wheel yet, but from people who has... I've heard the game works nice with a wheel too.

Best F1 game since F1 2000 and Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 4.

still waiting for it to "arrive"
so jealous to see u guys already racing on it.
codemaster's racing game always makes me drooling for the damage effect. smile.gif
*
But sadly the damage physics in F1 2010 is no where near as good as it was in GRID or DiRT 2.
It may be because there are simply too many complications to dozens of debris flying around from a F1 car when in an accident than compared to normal Touring cars instead.

What's the difference between the rear brakes and front brakes? i mean if i put more brakes on the rear, how will it affect the car?
*
Adding to what evohan says (which is correct and it does work in the game too), setting the bias to the brakes will differ from circuits to circuits.
Also of course, your driving style.

This is what the practice sessions are for, set a nice brake bias that you're comfortable with so that you don't get unnessasary wheel spin or purposely locking up your brakes.
Usually on tighter circuits (like Monaco, Singapore or Hungary), I'd put more of a bias on my rear brakes.
I usually settle more bias in my front brakes for most other circuits.

Real-life in monaco and hungary is damn hard to overtake also.
Of course they'll try to make it equally hard in the game, otherwise it wouldn't stay true to the track's nature.

I like driving in Monaco.
Especially when down in the middle of the pack, really have to drive wheels off your car to overtake.
Damn intense.

QUOTE(Oblivionz @ Sep 24 2010, 01:48 PM)
Oh ya, i forgotten......lesser fuel means lighter car means faster speed right? does this theory apply to this game?
*
Yes it does.
People say that when the car goes lighter, it is harder to control. I don't think so, I like lighter cars that oversteers into a corner.

QUOTE(belialjo @ Sep 24 2010, 02:03 PM)
i dun think f1 2010 has a clutch feature to simluate rev match, does it? so the same concept applies driving manual or auto. Brake then drop to the gear you want to take the corner in, steer, throttle out. rev match helps to minimize weight transfer when dropping gear to maintain balance of the car going into a corner. but most games dun really simulate this that well, some say Live for Speed does but i have personally not tried it.
*
No clutch unfortunately.
The manual gear shifts are semi-auto, so you just play with the gears when approaching a corner and try to get speed out as cleanly as possible without wheel spinning.

Maybe F1 2011 they'll have clutch.

It's very hard to catch an oversteer in this game. One counter steer and you'll most probably spin out..is f1 always like that?  hmm.gif
*
Yes.
That's the nature of F1 cars.

Spinning out in this game is nothing to be shy about.
Unlike many other racing games, if you spin you'd just look stupid at it.

In F1 2010, you don't.

Actually its a thrill to spin lol... make a mistake an 10 cars pass you and you'll have to race your nuts off to get back up there again.
That intensity feeling is awesome.

Seems like I've got some kind of taboo going on with me in the game... 2 engine failures in 5 races. laugh.gif

Wow.. I don't even know how to last the whole season now 6 engines remaining. doh.gif

I prefer to manually save the car (counter steer) but sometimes the car save itself from spinning 360.

This game is getting lots of hate from the PC version - lots of bugs Lolz
*
The console versions aren't any better.
There are alot of bugs too.

I dont' know why but it seems like these bugs were just rushed and codemasters just decide to fix them at a later time.
It isn't a game breaker, but it does get very annoying sometimes.

QUOTE(shinjite @ Sep 26 2010, 10:31 PM)
What bugs are found so far?
I haven't get the game yet
*
Bugs I've encountered thus far:

- If racing on a race weekend with laps anything lower than 100%, 9/10 times you will get a puncture.
How do I confirm this?
At first I thought it was weird to get a puncture EVERY single time I set the race length any lower than 100%.

I went onto Grand Prix mode and started 3 laps runs to experiment.
To my surprise, out of 8 races... EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM I GOT A TYRE PUNCTURE.

W.T.F. doh.gif

The other bug I got is that when I qualified 3rd on the grid in a race, the classification at the end of Q3 session shows me that I'm no.1.
Okay I should be thankful for this one but... again, W.T.F?! shocking.gif

I think there are a few more smaller bugs, but I haven't really realized it yet.

one bug that i encountered (I'm doing career mode, 100% race distance, expert settings) - teh AI DONT PIT! WTF!
*
That reminds me on one more bug... the AI DOES NOT have fuel-load consumption to begin with.
That means, regardless of whatever fuel load the AI has, they don't have to slow down to save fuel or handling hampering their car.

I've heard of another severe bug too... it is that even if you pit and changed tyres, at the end of the race you will be handed a penalty BECAUSE you didn't change to a different compound.

Now I personally haven't got this issue yet, but if I did, I'd be plenty pissed.

LOL?  blink.gif

That is god  flex.gif

It doesn't matter wherter they pit or not, because you CAN... run a full race pretty much on one tyre.
But the fact that they don't get penalised... is just not fair while YOU get penalised instead.

Sighh... just found more bugs...
And one which I'm particularly really pissed on:

- Penalty for causing a collision.
Holy hell, I didn't even knock the AI BUT IT KNOCK INTO ME!
AND I GET A PENALTY FOR THAT. WHAT. THE. F"CK?!

Happened 3 times somemore.

Damn pissed I immediately off the game.
I think I'm not going to play this anymore until codemasters patches everything up, this is really atrocious.

In addition to the bugs I've encountered, those are the ones in bolded that I've encountered too.
More and more bugs are surfacing the more I play, I wonder why... sleep.gif

Really, it makes me wonder if Codemasters really rushed this game out?
Simply because they want to make it ahead of GT5.

Codemasters better iron out all these bugs soon, because quite a few of them... would REALLY piss you off.

pls add me in for race: avaris79

just got my 1st win yest in sepang for williams biggrin.gif. is it just me or wat, on straights it seems impossible to chase the top 4 teams (mclaren, red bull, ferrari, renault)

about catching oversteer, try braking & counter steering. i managed to catch that once, rest of the times spin kau kau. tongue.gif

Its a difference in engine power.
Cosworth engines = sucks.

You'll get closer in straight-line speeds with other mid-class teams like Mercedes or Force India too.
Getting your gear ratios right will also help.

GRID and DiRT (1 and 2) were solid right off the start, there weren't too many bugs and even if they were, they were really really minor ones.

F1 2010... I really don't know how all these potentially game-breaking bugs got passed QC.
My only conclusion is that they rushed the game out just to be ahead of GT5 and decides to fix em' later.

I don't really mind the qualifying lap speeds from the AI right from the start too much.
It gives more challenge.
But the fact that when I try to overtake someone, the AI touches my rear wheel and I spin, AND I WAS ISSUED the penalty for causing the collision. doh.gif

This is one sure way to piss one off to no end.

Imagine playing on expert and starting from near end of the grid with a lousy car (I'm racing for Virgin), got my ass up to 3rd place... got knocked and got a penalty for it.
I really damn near wanted to snap the disc into 2 and send it back to Codemasters.

Don't worry, even if they run at quali-pace, for some weird reason... they take fast corners like they are taking hairpins.

I don't know why... so places where it seems impossible to overtake because the corner is too narrow albeit it being a fast one, you can overtake 2-3 cars there because they brake so early and is taking the corner like they're on a bicycle.

As for no pit-stops... running the race at 100% + long-weekend + setting AI to Legend, apparently... they do pit.. hmm.gif

QUOTE(belialjo @ Sep 27 2010, 03:40 PM)
ive had the lollypop man bug so far. other than that, some things that i noticed ie:
- AI cars seem to not hav tire wears
- AI @ legendary lvl should be much harder
- The cars handle pretty easily, doesn't go off so easily
- Suspect the physics are not realistic as it could be
- Level of accuracy on between the cars (ie: i qualified 2nd on a williams alongside a mclaren, cmon wat are the odds irl)
- Details race information not available (ie: fastest laps, lap times, classifications)
those listed are probably game flaws more than bugs i guess, probably just not up to expectations. the game is not as great as potrayed, kinda overrated.
*
You're playing with traction control on FULL, ABS ON, fuel simulation and tyre simulation set to off is it? laugh.gif
Otherwise I don't foresee you not spinning the car?

Otherwise you must be a super racer indeed. notworthy.gif

Some of them do, but some dont. I'm running career mode - 100% + expert + AI Legend + Long weekend.

In the 1st race - Button (AI) posted the fastest lap at 1.32!!!! that aint possible since the new layout!
*
Wait... Bahrain? In your game he did 1.32?! HOLY... WTF?!
In my game he did 1.59 the fastest.... shocking.gif

No I think even if running on rails, its impossible for 1.32 even with the faster F1 cars back in 2004 because the new first sector eats up a huge amount of time.

1.32 is one serious bug. laugh.gif

Ok just got another bug.... and this one really is funny yet annoying.

Everyone's probably already got the "ghost car" bug right?
I was in Melbourne race.
Pitted to change tyres, the moment I pitted Hamilton pitted as well.
What happened was of course he became a ghost car as expected.

So I thought... "ok, f"ck time to restart the race since I ain't gonna move from my pitbox after my team is done with the tyres".
To my surprise, I left the pitbox as scheduled. Hamilton was right infront of me.

So he was a ghost, and I could go through him. So I just continued following him out of the pit with my car half way "inside" him.
The moment we exited the pit, his "ghost form" suddenly took physical appearance...
What happened next? His car landed ontop of me and I was issued a penalty for causing a collision.

FTW.
Really. FTW.

Wow.

Go ahead.

Too epic.
I decided to just do a drive through, pit to repair damages (my front wing got damaged... strange) and just continued to race.

Was laughing all the way.

If only Hamilton became a ghost car when he was overtaking Webber yesterday.... whistling.gif
