Honestly thought this was going to be case when they marketed the film. The trailer with Oppenheimer's speech, and even filmmakers said during interviews that Godzilla is going to be wrath of nature that mankind has to suffer as a consequence for shitty treatment of earth.  False advertising to the max. In this they made him into a some some sort of hero, after watching the movie I told myself they should have just given him a cape.
