Yeah!!! Another divisive movie with narrative problem. The shift from exposition to plot point is very bad. Those invested moments with certain character didn't matter when the story hits 2nd act.All those great actors and actresses pretty much wasted on this movie. There are just throw away characters and does not elevate plot line any further.Kickass plainly can't carry the movie on his own. When the movie reach 3rd act,it's all out action between the kaijus. While the effects and camera works are pretty awesome yet it's not something you haven't seen before. At times the action took themselves a bit too serious. While Pacific Rim does not hide the fact it's goal is to deliver comic book/manga action sequences while Godzilla wanted to be grounded on reality almost like documentary type of filming. While you can easily geek out Godzilla fire breathing moment, the actual fight kinda dull. Guess by next week will totally forgoten about this movie altogether.

QUOTE(jenniferjen @ May 18 2014, 03:33 PM) Not really, review is the real business It would affect the sales of the tickets Movie reviews affect less than 10% of box office receipt. If movie review garner ticket sales then all Oscar movies will be on the highest grossing list of all time. The reason that makes people go to cinema is fully influence by star power and advertising.

This sequel is more align with Kong Skull Island rather than the borefest 2014 Godzilla. Leave your brain at the ticket counter and immerse yourself with the dumb fun assault on your senses. I simply don't care the human story and all in with the kaijus pummelling each other. Not saying it is as drab as the Bayformers, each of the kaiju still has way more personality than those abhorrent robots.
Guess Kong vs Godzilla pretty much inevitable.

At the end of the day, this is a super expensive live-action cartoon. You watch this simply to be a kid again and not worrying about how important the scripting gonna be.

Not a fan of the new movie. The juvenile set-up reminded me more of incoherent mess akin to Bayformers instead of dumb fun like Kong Skull Island. The human portion just too annoying and a chore to go through. While the cgi is great and dazzling eye candy, the staging of it can be hit and miss. Only the very last fight piqued my interest while the others a little repetitive and not engaging to me. Just me not feeling the hype.

QUOTE(lone_wolf @ Apr 1 2021, 05:57 AM) just go watch Christopher Nolan movie... Did your parents tease you on your manhood insecurities that caused you a lifetime inferiority complex? Which part of incoherent mess vs dumb fun that you cannot understand. If you think Christopher Nolan is the only director that you can reference as smart than you are really a dumbass cinema dude!

First of all be chill on my not favourable opinion of GvK. I'm the minority who disliked it as it just.not dumb and fun enough. Also please don't assume that I have no self awareness of what movie I'm watching. Again please don't equate correlation as causation. Power to you that you love it and not a single thing you can say to make me like it one bit more. Your opinion is yours and mine is mine. Calling me out for innocuous reason is meaningless.

GKOTM did a better job at expanding monsterverse lore. GvK has no build up to all the smashy punchy moments. Actually it's a mystery to me why they hired Adam Wingard who spectacularly destroyed Netflix's Death Note. To be fair he did good on You're Next and The Guest.
By far for me Kong The Skull a lot more enjoyable cause it knows exactly what kind of movie they're making.
