IIRC, DTS Core is refering to DTS 5.1.

While DTS Core + Extension is referring to DTS 5.1 above eg. DTS 6.1, DTS 7.1.

LA40C550 model got network port behind? I was wondering about this. If got then it is a great model enabling direct play from network storage.

Added on April 25, 2010, 7:29 pm

If price is 3k or below for the C550 model I will buy it if got network port.

Yup...just bought this model..Can only find this model in SenQ/SenHeng. Got it RM3049.

can confirm with u, this model got LAN port to hook up to your network..

One more thing, the 40c550 model can play video from NTFS as well. unlike c530 which can only play from FAT16/32 (pendrive). Correct me if im wrong.

So this 40c550 can play from your normal external hard drive and also can play directly from network drive.Tested by me thumbup.gif

I already test the C530 model. Confirmed it can read from NTFS external hard disk. I brought mine and tested one mkv movie at the shop. Great playback. No hiccups. Smooth as it can be. Subtitle however I didnt try.

How come you got at that price? I thought the C530 priced at RM3390 so the C550 should be around RM3590.

Here is a more better comparison for the 2010 models. Its more than about the network port I think.

The display price is RM3590.. u go any SenQ/SenHeng shop will display that price. u need to ask the SA, then they will give u rm3049 price.i ask 3 SengHeng shop, in Sunway Pyramid, Setapak and Kepong. All give me the same price.

Unfortunately the c550 model doesnt come with the astro B.yond package. That's the only drawback.

But the ability to play all my movie collection from my network storage weight more than having 1 year free B.yond subscription. I can just sign up for it later anyway (when the world cup start brows.gif )

And yes, the video quality from the media player is super smooth.. even can play my 300mb .mkv (compressed version) file with no problem. I can say, it can play better video quality than my laptop.

Some more, c550 have 90,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio if that means anything to u guys laugh.gif

The bottom line is, if u guys want to have astro B.yond free for one year, get the c530 (that's RM20X12), if u need the ability to connect to your network drives, get c550.

Yup.. c550 have LAN port for network connectivity. With c530, u need to connect your hard drive directly to the lcd's USB port. No LAN port.

but i thought the C530 is also kind of a "media player" built in already? just plug in the external harddrive to the usb port, then can watch all the movies in it right?

Yes of course, you can plug in the external HDD to the TV's usb port, then can watch all the movies in HDD.
BUT
With the LAN port, you don't need to transfer the movie to the external HDD. You can watch it directly from your PC, (which movies are downloaded) via the LAN connection.
