allow me to rant a little bit...
last week on Friday, receive a notice from the management of my apartment, they handing out 'Pre-Registration Forms' for Astro HD.
since my apartment using centralized dish, till today still haven't got B.yond as yet.
when i saw the header of the notice, i was really excited. but as i read on, its not exactly a 'pre-registration' at all. what is happening, i believe, is Astro trying to justify whether to upgrade the apartment's current SD satellite to B.yond enabled. they trying to find out how many residents in my area would actually wanna subs to B.yond before deciding whether to upgrade the satellite or not.
i feel its a big bunch of bulls..they never carried out a such survey for landed properties before launching them. they are a service provider, and they are obliged to provide the service to all Malaysians. The service should be provided regardless, then they sit back and wait for subs to call up & subscribe. they cant carry out a survey like this, and then make a calculations whether its worth providing the service.
i feel, probably not a 100% of the residents will respond to the 'form' and out of those who responded, if say the figure is less than what they expected, means i'm not gonna get B.yond enabled.
nonetheless, i will respond accordingly, cos i've been waiting patiently for it since it was launch. was hoping to catch the WC in HD...but seems no chance at all now...
would anyone here know, what the upgrade work will involved? how extensive it is to upgrade the current satellite & set-up top box for apartment/condo?
any apartment/condo (with centralized BMU) already enjoying B.yond?
i live in a landed house... the astro guy came to my house and change the dish only... no cable change coz he said same cable can be use unless old cable not performing well... and they change the astro decoder together with remote only...
since u live in a centralised condo... i think astro just need to change the dish only... and also the decoder to byond decoder... i dont think cables are necessary to change... if just change the dish... it should be an easy job for them...
i also heard normal astro also can use the byond dish... so shouldnt be a problem for the existing astro user rite...
if they afraid the existing astro user have problems with their channel... they can sent out notice to all the residents... and whoever have problems after the new dish installation can call them up for troubleshooting...
just my opinions...
