well I would propose another type of FUP similar to what I had used oversea.

During peak hours. eg 9am-11pm, throttle down speed if usage/download is above eg 1-2 GB...

Then open back during off peak... That way downloaders still can download and hog at no expense of other users

What is free VOD? Is it free good HD movies like HBO?
*
well currently for hollywood this month, I can say very recent moview. G-Force, Enemy of the State, Surrogates

Theres bollywood and asian (korean, japanese, thai, indonesian) movies as well as TV series full season downloads.

VOD content will be refreshed every month

Currently will use a point system give to you for free each month (dunno how much). Each movie will cost a few points and can be watched for a set number of hours. This plan will change once a proper payment scheme is set up. Think of it as limited free movies for early birds until new price scheme comes.

I've been using unifi for the past 2 months already...i was selected among 150 to test the device b4 the launching date...im not  happy with the speed actually...i only get like 2++mb.....i will post the bandwidth result later...is there anything u guys want to know about the unifi? Probably i can post the pic of the modem later as well..
*
do you mean 2MBps (byte) or 2 Mbps (bit)?.. if you are getting 2Mbps, then i seriously think that it is a configuration issue (on TM's side). You might still be limited to a streamyx 2 Mbps bandwith cap. instead of the a 20 MBps configuration.

Selected among 150???150 user per target area of service or do you have any knowledge of that?I'm no network expert so we're gonna need 1 or 2 to add to this AND a statistician. How is it that that 150 user are enough for load/stress testing the network for what's basically a nationwide rollout service? Will the accumulated data be enough to determine achievable bandwidths and caps?Or the 1st 2 years into this project people have to pay to finalize a silent beta?
*
We don't know if they are stress testing in the first place. It coult just be testing to check customer feedback, etc...

you think they so rajin wanna see what you download? lol i dont think so.. maybe just see the amount you have downloaded. like how they are doing with streamyx.. in the tm bill kan ada the total amount of usage for the month or no more de..
*
actually, they do. I've seen graphs of trafic, site types gone to, downloaded file names/sizes, etc.... but dunno why they still havent implemented proper workable FUP...

QUOTE(Diran Hans @ Mar 26 2010, 04:20 PM)
its actually like this ...

fibre optic will be connected into your house into a splitter converting it from fibre to cat6 then from the cat6 it will be conected to a modem which will spilt it summore IPTV/Phone/Internet. for internet ada 4 cat5 ports which can be connected to a wireless router or straight to pc.

if im not mistaken the normal phone line cable (RJ-45) is not needed.
*
fibre connected to you house will go straight to the ONU (think of it as a laser/optical modem).

The ONU will split to RJ45/CAT5 for internet/iptv and RJ11 for voice. You an use normal phone since the ONU acts as the termination point.

the RJ45 will go to a wireless router. its preconfigured with VLANs for the iptv and for internet. Meaning that if you know how to configure VLANs to the output ports on your own modem then go ahead and use it.

From the router output port 4, it will go to the STB for your IPTV.

Ports 1-3 can be use for LAN.

1st page. go check it
well at my brothers place there isnt ONU only like the dsl splitter.

Fibre optic > dsl splitter looking box > ethernet cable > modem (BTU) [at the modem have 4 lan port (can connect to wireless router or pc)/ 1 port(ethernet) for iptv/ 1port (ethernet cable) for phone]

this is the setup if im not mistaken. i will take pics of everything tonite and post em here.
*
your brother live in apartment?

if apartment its not FTTH but VDSL2. fibre only goes up to the equipment in buildin SDF room. then from the room to aparment unit is copper. use normal phone line smile.gif

11+ billion is from taxpayer money why are "they" wholesale it and not government?
*
You must have not done your homework. Go check how much of that money is from government and how much from TM. Even if you say its a GLC, go check how many % government have control over it.

I do not believe it is fair demanding TM to lower their prices saying that it is the right of the people (tax payer money blablabla). Since it is a business afterall, we should ask government to give subsidy based on the revenue they recieve no? Otherwise we are taking from the % which are not from tax payer money and demanding from ppl who actually give out capital n do the work.

You check the telephone tiang at the back or front of your house, whether there is a white box hanging there.
If there is one, then your area has HSBB.
If no, then not yet reach your area.
*
USJ area not covered. Q2.. if theres a box doesnt mean theres an OLT or MSAN connnected to those cables. rolleyes.gif

theres already a box in front of my house. still no unify wink.gif

Because I can use custom firmware on it. Plus, all the laptops in my home are still using Wireless G.

Edit: Just looked at the user manual and confirmed the RG is actually a D-Link DIR-615 router. It seems that some models can support DD-WRT.
*
You will need to configure the required VLANs for your data and tv services on your router. then bind those VLANs to the physical output ports on that router..

i believe N routers are backwards compatible... ?

to enhance broadband penetration, lower price of 512/1 MBps streamyx and not 4 MBps. People who are using 1515 (dial-up) wont be using 4 MBps anytime soon.

Only heavy downloaders are complaining about 4 MBps prices as far as I can see.

you dont really need youtube or movie downloads to increase the economy (even though for students there are videos which are beneficial)..

my 2 sen..

The area covered is the by the Shah Alam exchange. Still it is wrong for them to say just "Shah Alam" and not make it clear..

This morning TM called regarding my complaint that my area is not 4M enabled. And they said TM will NOT install new port and just jump to UniFi. WTF! And asked me to bersabar and put me on the list when it's available end of June or early July. Btw I'm in Wangsa Maju.
*
unifi ftth = fiber

streamyx adsl2+ = copper
unifi vdsl2 = copper with more expensive equipment.

if they use their vdsl2 equipment (which is backward compatible) and you live in a highrise, they'll be wasting on revenue.

if its a landed property then they dont have free ports for you..
