i am very confused about high speed broadband since i got my 5 mb hsbb installed a week ago.

before use hsbb : i was thinking maybe the ping will be lower of cause connection will be faster.

after used hsbb : the ping did not improve, some times disconnect and even worst ping, restart/ reload ip almost the same, surf 90% of the site only get 200kb below speed[should be getting atlist 400kb per sec = 80% of the speed]
all i can say is 90% of the time connection unstable = high ping + low download speed + disconnect most of the time.

just wonder what is high speed broadband really mean

I had the same problem initially when I got my UniFi. I was getting only 80-100Kbps downrate on my PC. I compared the speeds I got with the technician. Apparently the technician was getting higher speeds that me. So something was wrong. Turns out that I had to update my NIC driver. After restarting and testing again, I got about 500+Kbps. I tested downloads from http://mirror.internode.on.net/

Cheers

try using a wired connection directly and see if there is any changes in the network speed.it could be that you have an old b or g device in your house and that the network is being throttled back to b or g speeds due to that device. Please do correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

i was thinking same thing like you said too, i gonna get a try first and thanks for your solution smile.gif

Always test using a wired connection(LAN). Testing over wireless can often be unreliable.

i got another pc using lan cable but still slow maybe have to update lan cable to 100/1000, maybe normal 10/100 lan cable can't support 5 mb connection

so have you called TM regarding this problem?
*
i heard many people complain about the same problem as me too but non of them get fix yet so go and complain also waste of time, just look for some solution around here might have better chance

Its a 100mb cable. Why wouldn't it support 5mb? Heck, might aswell go back to 10mb thick LAN then. Sure stimix.
