See how many p2p/filesharing pirates complain here laugh.gif they are the only ones who will hit the cap.

There are a lot of ways to use lots of internet bandwidth in a short time, like buying a game from Steam(DA is 15GB for one game,CoH takes 9GB), watch HD youtube videos, or streaming movies.

I barely use p2p or file share and i can easily use 10GB a day,if i want.

Even playing a game for 2 hours with VOIP uses like 300 to 400MB,easily. Or surfing at LYN also use considerable amount of bandwidth as you are downloading sigs and avatar all the time. Try opening your Network Status on your connection and see how much you use. /k people will love their office internet connection as it probably wont have cap.

Capped internet has very restrictive nature as you if over use it,you'll suffer the consequences like slow internet or they charge you per MB. I have friends paying over 200AUD per person because they exceed 1GB of their cap. I find it actually promotes you to go out more, than sitting at the computer the whole day as you dont want to waste your bandwidth so that you dont suffer at the end of the month.

Still,HSBB is meant to encourage you to use your internet for entertainment contents, not encourage you to go out. doh.gif

Cant belive that Malaysia is actually implementing this ridiculous system, while Australia is implementing HSBB to get rid of it or increase the cap tremendously. 60GB to 120GB is way too little.

I'll keep my 1Mbps internet anyday,at least i dont have to worry about getting over the cap if i decide to go youtube marathon.

Unless you only check emails using your internet everyday, you bound to have problems with capped internet.

Yeah right, i spend over RM300 on Steam games last year where in the end ,all 32 games need 90GB to download every single one from scratch. On November, i downloaded 30GB of games, just in 2 days.

Considering all the patches, mods, dlc and shit, i need about 25GB per month that includes 10GB allowance for a big Steam game each month. WTF is this capped internet shit?????

Better get the damn bandwidth monitor then since im gonna use it in both countries.

Also, when you torrent, you are actually using double bandwidth,as in if your movie is 3GB,you are actually downloading 6GB+. Have fun with HSBB.

There goes my dream of using OnLive to play Crysis on i-Phone/netbook. doh.gif

I honestly think the cap is sufficient... I mean, we only use internet for youtube, Malaysian Insider, facebook, msn and skype ... Nothing else... lol!

If gov has this mentality, I think they are being stupid... lol!

I do admit, even though 90 GB is sufficient for me but for the price they are offering, its a freaking rip-off... lol!

How to progress like this???

I'm sure once the penetration is improved, I'm sure iTunes, Universal studios and etc... will be offering loads of online content... TM should have taken into consideration about all these...

Thats only for you,if you are using yourself.

Imagine sharing it. Ugh.

The biggest about the cap isn't the monthly cap.

Its the DAILY CAP.
Apparently, if you're on the 5mbps package you'll have 60GB a month at that translates to 2GB a day.

Download any more than that, 1mbps you go.... or some say, 512kbps.

doh.gif

I don't know to laugh, to get pissed or to cry.

TM Nut can go die now.

2GB is too little.

2-3 albums in 320kbps,a few hours of TF2, and one patch,im back to stone age.

Is the IPTV bandwidth is excluded from 60GB ? otherwise watching TV itself all gone !
*
It's not, some else said it's on another dedicated 8MB line. So,you are getting a 8MB line dedicated for IPTV,and your subcried line for you normal usage.Do we even need IPTV???

These people are ubelievably stupid, assuming that IPTV can manage 24/7 non stop broadcasting. Why cant they get rid of that IPTV and give everyone a 8MB unlimited interenet?

If not, dont tell me the IPTV also lags when too many people is watching it. doh.gif

Who cares about stupid IPTV. If I wanted to watch all the rerun movies or out of date series, I just download the torrent. 720p to 1080p somemore... HD.. so don't even need Astro Beyond.

Unfortunately, these moves are 4GB each and each series about 300-600MB per episode.

And for the house phone. I have it because it is required for Streamyx, but every month I don't even make a single call from the house phone..  Mobile phone for short calls and If wanted to talk long long.. then just use Skype. Again the cap becomes a bummer!
*
I think your home phone gonna be important for you by then.

I never use Skype when im in Aus.

FIrst of all, nobody made them sign up for a 1GB package. They wanted to be penny-wise and pound-foolish, and they earned the rewards. Secondly, according to my calculations, 60GB is almost sixty times higher than 1GB.
Not necessarily a bad thing.
I use VoIP and video conferencing all the time, I transfer lots of data, I watch some TV shows online, and I don't come anywhere near 60GB of usage per month.

Before making any claims about how crazy or wonderful the cap is, we would need to see TM's actual historical usage data. They are foolish for not providing it. If they can show a chart that says "Of our one million customers, only ten thousand used more than 60GB in one month," then they have solved their PR problem, because it would be easy to paint that 1% as the pirates and porn fiends.

Otherwise, we can only guess. However, based on my activities, and those of people I know, I would think that the caps are reasonable for the vast majority of users.

Still, I don't like the sound of it. It feels like I am being restricted even if in practice it means nothing to me. But that's not a rational judgment.
*
Firstly,I mentioned for that they have exceed the cap by 1GB.Not they pay for 1GB.

Definitely reasonable if you are using the whole line alone. If i count my monthly usage, i only use 25GB,max with an allowance for one huige Steam game.If not,15GB would be more than enough.

Problem occurs when you are sharing the line with people, which is hard to avoid when you are a student.

I never like the idea of having a bandwidth monitor that tells me how much i have used.
