Don't worry too much. When the time comes, do your best to find a job. It doesn't have to be the perfect job the first time. Just land something first and make your way to that perfect job. Relax, everyone can do this. This country has low unemployment and we have jobs if you're not choosy...

Studying was easy for me because I loved what I studied and I would've studied it for fun if I could also. Financially it was tough especially if you wanted a normal lifestyle which I did and I set high standards to be able to do this and that and so I needed alot of money which I had to bust my ass to get...

sadly i made a wrong choice for my degree course. Din really enjoy it and am not enjoying it now either... Regret my choice but life goes on and mistakes happen. Wish i had pursued what im good at naturally sad.gif

Honestly speaking I have this very not so popular idea.
After I graduate from my first degree, I wanted to study another degree PART TIME, or getting PART TIME professional paper, which is 100% unrelated to my current course. Shared this idea with few, it seems weird to them. Any advice?

same here, i wanna venture into sumthing else, something i like. Well follow ur heart coz coz ppl would find anyone different from them as weird

not really choosy. In fact im like ok to enter any field. Its just tht i dont wanna end up being in a position whereby being a degree holder is just a waste

im not sure if i shud wait first till my graduation or start working ths june

some of my friends wants to take like 3 months break, some wants to wait till nxt yr, whereas im like the only weird one who wants to get a job ASAP...maybe coz they are all too rich
*
I know where you are because I was right there 2 years back. Fortunately for me, I went into business with my brother mid-way through my college years and just continued that afterwards. All my friend's went on vacations and backpacking here and there because they wanted a last hurrah but people like me and maybe you can't afford that and I had bills to pay and a company to run.

I started work 2 days after my last final exam and have been working ever since. I did not go to my own graduation because I had to be in Beijing on business. and I graduated top of my class with a 3.96GPA which was highest in the history of my faculty. My professors were livid with me and they all said I wasted my talent.

On the degree thing, I am working in a field not at all related to my degree and I graduated top of my class with a 3.96GPA which was highest in the history of my faculty. My professors were livid with me and they all said I wasted my talent. But my job now still provides me a good living so that degree will always be there as a symbol of your hard work and knowledge but sometimes things can't be perfect.

I think if it is what YOU want to do and it makes you happy then go for it and screw what other people think. Your life is defined by you.

Jerome and cutejam - hope there's no such thing as too late for a degree?

Added on March 28, 2010, 2:04 amWell anyway it's just a plan. I can't say what will happen next. I just have to wait and see during the time for the best choice.

i should salute u for tht cgpa blink.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif sweat.gif

Im no where close to tht sadly. If i had pursued what im good at i would have probably been there too cry.gif But as u said degree is just a symbol of knowledge and not everything turns out perfect. Ya i guess ill be finding a job asap once i complete my finals. My dilemma are friends who keep pestering me to go on a graduation trip which would cost me a lot sweat.gif And they have made plans upto like 2 months after my finals in the view tht everyone are gonna be enjoying for at 3 months b4 finding for job.

But yet again, if you can afford to take that trip then why not? Enjoy life more..

For me personally i couldn't because my brother's wife just had a baby and he wanted to take time off to be with his new baby which meant that I had to take over fully at the company and I had no choice. I wish I had gone a trip if I could because now, I never get the chance anymore unless it is for business..

nothing is ever too late. I guess thts why being single is a plus point. Once ur attached , family matters comes first and u might find it difficult to do what u want in life.

I plan to take up a second degree once im financially stable in 2-3 years but then time shall decide. People say its a waste of time since im a girl but heck i have ambitions and i would like to work my way there even if its only halfway through.

cutejam - when u don't enjoy something, the chance to do it good is very slim. it's very important to do things out of love, not out of for the sake of doing it.

People in my field of studies can make a good living but not a great one. I bailed on my dreams for money in business which I'm kinda regretting half the time now and happy that I did it the other half of the time rclxub.gif laugh.gif

I'll say it's even more waste of time for guys? Say like this. I start a new job, freshly at the age of 30, just after completing my second degree. My salary? RM2000 for no experience at the age of 30 for a guy.

They keep telling me tht its ridiculous to find a job so fast and are pestering me to join them on a 3 months jobless spree...Guess they dont know how important is it for me to get a job unsure.gif

one of my good friend even suggested us not to work coz she's not interested in working at all.

Yeah that's one of the consequences of prolonged study unless that degree can catapult you to a high place in your industry right after finishing it because it is such a niche degree..

Why the need to find a job very fast? Do you need the money so you have to or is it just anxiety over the possibility of not being able to land one?

it is, wish i had realised earlier though. Excelled my schooling years just to screw up my uni grades badly. But then personally i think im better than some who score perfect scores. Not boasting but then some dont know how to attend interviews/write/speak/and well many dont even know who is saddam hussein. Its all about their basic knowledge which many really lack nowadays. Im glad i always paid a lot of attention to the real world and read a lot. And the part time jobs provided me with a good start actually. At least i have contacts if i need a job even if its just an entry level position.

Some people will feel useless without job? Like my dad, he told me that 2-3 days without work as very very boring. Sometimes on Sunday he would go to office. And he's hoping to retire not too soon. Workaholic, opposite of me. The quote "like father like son" doesn't work. tongue.gif

Congratulations on being able to avoid being the typical Malaysian young adult with a complete lack of knowledge in the real world and of current affairs. Most Malaysians have been misled by the total authoritative nature of their upbringing and lack the ability to think critically and creatively and expand their horizons beyond this little country which dictates their minds and thought.

Nah. My masters are very limited. I wanted to go for totally different direction. Masters are more like "upgrade" to current paper, considering the field i'm in.
