Going to grab my SD card over the weekend and root the phone. By the way how is the performance of JG1? What is the difference between the Asian and European firmware currently?

Scoured the whole of Lowyat today. Could not locate a 16GB microSDHC that is class 4 and above. Only Class 2 available. I had to settle for an 8GB microSDHC Class 6 from Transcend.

Loaded MCR2 onto the phone, then I read that people were recommending using JFF and to wait for a ROM based on that firmware. Guess I will play around for a bit and see how this works on my phone

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 11 2010, 12:01 AM) Not much of a difference. To be honest I expected better. My JG1 was running pretty fine, guess after a while it actually behaved By the way weird, I put the update.zip into my SD card it failed to detect it. But when placed into the internal memory it worked just fine. |

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 11 2010, 12:18 AM) ya,so far it only can detect internal sd.not external Think that is the bit that is irritating, the need to redo the phone.....everytime I do that i have to type in my super duper long WPA2 key why JFF?faster? if i flash again,i think this is duno how many times i need to reinstall all my apps again i think Paul wont release new rom based on JFF..maybe he will wait for another new release or go for JG3 |

I flashed with and without the SIM card. Did not affect me. As for the russian language, just hitting settings and look for the circle with A then select top menu then select English.

Reflashed again when I screwed something up till Swype kept getting errors lol Anways as for gingerbread, eventhough the hardware supports it, but whether Samsung supports it is another different story, they would prefer to sell you another phone for that purpose

QUOTE(fongkarseong @ Jul 12 2010, 02:15 PM) Hi all GS users! I say 7 hours is pretty good since you are doing syncing. Smartphones in general tend to take a beating in battery life.Has been used this phone more then 2 weeks. I need some clarify from you guys. Is regarding the battery life. My usage, 1) All time sync facebook(15min), twitter(15min), email/hotmail & gmail(30min) 2) Never disable APN, all time on 2G, 3G or HSPDA (depend on area) 3) 1 day around 5 calls (not more that 15min) and 10 sms+mms 4) Moderate usage on post comments, twittering, reply email, downloading apps and googling website. 5) Desktop with static wallpaper, auto brightness adjust, fancy widget snyc weather, live feed for facebook and twitter. So base on above usage, my GS battery life only can last for about 7 hour++ only. Is this consider normal? Becasue I feel that my battery life is too short. How about your guys? Should I goto Maxis replace a new battery? Added on July 12, 2010, 2:34 pm QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 12 2010, 01:27 PM) lol Hmmm now only I noticed that I am no longer getting the "Your battery is fully charged message" which dovetails with is being posted in XDA. Question though, where do I run that command from?maybe messed up with the system files but u can try this method? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722862 This post has been edited by mAxPC: Jul 12 2010, 02:34 PM |

QUOTE(killeralta @ Jul 12 2010, 04:19 PM) Just got my galaxy s jut now from maxis centre, a samsumg gal there teach me how to use. But she say that phone dun have data usage counter, is it true? and also the phone will keep on using your 3g data for sync automatically and cannot be stopped......... You can turn off auto sync and also you can force the phone to default only to Edge (2G) and you can download an app to keep track of usage.Anyway to stop the phone from simply using my 3g data or stop the 3g totally until when i need it? |

QUOTE(kyosho @ Jul 12 2010, 08:11 PM) new user here... realize that the battery life is really short... not sure if it is only happening to me or the rest of the folks here. but without much interaction with the phone, fresh reboot, within a day the battery will run flat. Maybe you have background data sync going on? Coming from the iPhone I am glad that my phone last longer than that Time to shop for spare batts haha |

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 12 2010, 08:49 PM) looks like many iphone jumpers here(including me Yeah hope they fix the issues with the current crop of phones. My GPS doesn't lock on as fast as I would like it too and at the same it is not as sensitive indoors compared to the iPhone. Using FourSquare was a breeze on the iPhone but not the same experience for me on the SGS.sometime i prefer iphone in term of apps like youtube.i can search more videos on youtube, history, etc but android lack of those functions... i really really hope samsung will do something about the lag and i will more than happy with it..not abandon it and focus on next phone(Galaxy S series in US) Added on July 12, 2010, 8:50 pmand 1 of the Samsung sourse told me they will have a talk about UI(slowness) within this week and work with it(damn, now only have a talk??? =.= ) |

Was looking at a review of the AT&T Captivate which is a variant of the Galaxy S, notable difference would be:
1) 4 capacitative touch buttons at the bottom of the phone unlike ours which uses 2 capacitative buttons and 1 hard home button 2) The design on the back is different, does not have that small hump at the bottom of the phone. 3) Removal of the back case is easier, just slide out the bottom part and the battery cover pops right out, better than our sliding our fingers nails under the gap 4) Rear speakers looks to have bigger speaker grills ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 14 2010, 11:20 PM) just updated to latest firmware..i can say that it is way better than previous firmwares that i tried...quite snappy and fast(nvr notice any lag for now) Flashed to this as well, and yes noticed that the live wallpaper lags for me as well and the GPS still locks on as slowly for me as ever. This is the only part of the phone which I did not like.but if i turn on live wallpaper,it quite laggy when scrolling compare with previous firmwares... will explore more |
