Hi Forumers,

What do you all think about these HD Media Players? I need to know the weaknesses of each unit (based on your user experience or requirements). They are:-

- TViX HD N1 (Cafe)
- A.C.Ryan Playon!HD mini [ACR-PV73200]
- ASUS O!Play AIR HDP-R3
- WD TV Live
- FreeAgent Theater+™ HD Media Player

Any comments? Thanks.

yeah...I think the newer Sigma chips are much better than the older ones...so from WDTV live onwards, the player should be OK.

Bro, paskal, off records ...i saw this Yamaha YHT292 HT for just RM2050.

I saw in Mudah, obviously mudah traders hard to trust, but it had DTS-HD-MA AVR & speakers..

Not sure if you would like it..

Well, should hold on to buying those players mentioned as more Sigma 864X players should be coming out very soon & hopefully price will go down also from the current 1K price range.

Are you sure it has DTSHDMA?...it doesn't mean if it has HDMI means it must have HD audio as well.
Plus the puny speakers are just an excuse by Yamaha to call it a HT set

i just got a HornetTek Phantom (changed my modeo mr56 to this coz of networking isses) ....

It's not too bad but yesterday tried h.264 mp4 file 'Saving Private Ryan'...it was freakin jerky...any comments guys? How do i improve this? Not happy with this probelm actually.

Here's the product:

http://hornettek.com/products/phantom.php

But with all other file extensions it plays ok for now. The network facility via wifi and LAN and menu navigation also quite ok ...just tiny issue with hi-resolution mp4 files i guess...

Any help / comments appreciated ...

thx!

Added on March 19, 2010, 12:26 pmbtw - this file was played via a 1TB Buffalo USB HD ... so it's not a LAN concern...coz i presume things can get stuttery if played via network...

how is WD Live or AC Ryan's playback on H.264 mp4 files?? smooth?? might get one of these if they're better...
