Anybody here got any experience using dual input speaker selector such as this?

Niles DPS-1
Russound AB-2.2

I want to use dual source (AVR and stereo amp) but only using one set of speaker.
My concern is whether the sound quality (especially stereo music) will be affected.

Thanks for any info smile.gif

Arremie, IMO it should degrades the sound in one way or another as sound signal is not travelled direct from amp to speakers. You know music listening is kind of very sensitive (if you're a serious type). The best way is still plug & unplug 2 sets of speaker cables. You won't watch movie and next minute switch on the cd player do you?

Added on March 18, 2010, 7:28 pmIF you have moolah, get another set of speakers to cater for your music listening. I have seen many owners in my city who owned 2 sets of equipments. 1 for HT & another for hifi. I can only dream.....*_*

yeah i plan to have dedicated setup but my house too messy now no place for me to really sit down n enjoy dedicated stereo setup. so for the time being no place for another floorstander.

as for plug/unplug cables that is pretty difficult as working space is very tight and have to move my speaker everytime i wanna do that. after that need to realign/re-level the moved speaker again. a lot of work sweat.gif

now a bigger one coming in....that option is out of the picture whistling.gif

if your receiver has audio pre-output, can assign Left & Right channel to stereo amp. Some people do that, mean we will need to run both receiver and stereo amp together, sound quality will not be downgraded. Volume control at the stereo amp can be set once during setup only, then master volume will be controlled by receiver. In 5.1 format, audyssey could help. rclxms.gif
