My Android screen has started to get scratches, and so I noticed there seem to be a layer between the LCD....could this be the stock protector and can it be replaced ??

I believe so it does...just want some confirmation......

lol...if there's a screen protector on it, u should be able to see the edges to peel it off.
another try: use a cellotape n stick on ur screen edge, try to remove the SP by this way, provided the SP is really there

since it's resistive touch screen, the layer may not be removable imo. unless you can see the edges of the layer, as screen protectors usually do not fit perfectly.
