Study smart, don't slack around and think you can study last minute. After class always revise what you have learned and do the work that your teacher has given you.Trying out some past year questions also help.Time yourself when doing work so that you can finish work within a time limit just like in exams. In cases of matric make sure you really don't slack off and perform well in experiments and quizzes that your lecturer give to you as those contribute to your final marks.Don't skip lectures or tutorials in matric XD

Start your study from now. And revision constantly 8 hours per day, exclude tuition and school time.
I strongly encourage TS to take 5 subjects, don't follow the trend of 4 subjects. Be the top 15 5flats scorers among 53K STPM candidates is much more better than the 200+ 4 flat scorers.

4 flat? hard? You result sucks. Don't even think about 4 flat. haha
You need more motivation from others.
Then only can study hard from now.
Just like myself. I didn't study for my History for PMR till 1 month before exam cuz my friend had finished the whole book. I scored A because of him. He insulted me and kept showing off when he had well prepared.

Another case is to create more interest in the subject you like. I scored A1 in Physics in SPM because I started to love it at the last 3 months before exam. Form 4 and Form 5, I got 30-55% only. WHo knows actual exam A1. No joke.. put more effort.

self-discipline is most important + you must have a very dedicated teachers+ luck. My teachers passion and hard work in teaching me makes me more motivated to get 4 flat. I thank my teacher a lot!

that's because spm's real exam grade is way lower than the one determined by school,it varies annually depending on the pupils' performance... sleep.gif

STPM revision and practise isn't measured in how many books you do. Its weighed by how many Kgs of paper you have used up.

Well, do not hesitate to ask if u dun understand... 4me, even got 1% dun understand i aso will "attack" my teacher ady... once understand then when come to revision not that difficult ady.... study smart mean when u memerize things... dun memerize the whole sentence, pick the keypoint and make it a words that u prefer/in favour in... for eg...
1) 4 principles in management.... Planning, Organizing, Leading, Control...
just make it POLC....
2) Skip the example that may gv u extra burden... notice that example just for ur understanding... once u understand the principle, then u can goreng ur example ady.
3) Pay attention in class no matter how is ur tireness of the day... Cos... u dun have to worry if u sleep all the way until midnight after class....
4) Study the question, not the note alone... u can notice sth similar... my fren... hu can muntah from A-Z... end up only 3.8sth... 4me... I study question... What i can say is... many "smart" students not really smart in the sense of their knowledge, is the way they approach the question
5) To score well in Pengajian Am, read more newspapaer... simply put 1/2 isu semasa, then u may have surprising result than others hu just muntah from the reference book
6) Chem, Phys or Bio; treat them more likely the story book. U may notice there is relationship between each chapters.
7) Maths... well... my killer paper... Cannot do anything other than just practise.. get a good lecturer is 100% useful when they direct u d approach 2those questions..
8) MUET, although not calculated in CGPA, bt it definitely improve ur english and make u braver in "wrinting" whatever "point/nonsense" in ur paper...
9) B confident to urself...try to target that getting 4flat is a must and those who didnt get 4flat mean "abnormal"... heard from my matrik fren
10) Make good friends... STPM time is not that relax nor suffer neither... of cos... if u have frens, hu r concentrating in study more than loitering around... then getting 4 flat isnt that tough...

In4 abt may not b accurate and may differ from ppl to another... so just take it as reference and adopt whenever suit u... It's all my experience and it's work even in my uni time...

by changing from science to art doesn't make things easier automatically. apparently a lot of people out there think art is so so so much easier that by changing the stream the problem is solved. try asking those who actually changed and you will know it won't work. it's the student's attitude that matters. some art subjects like accounting isn't easy actually, very different from SPM's. other subjects like pengajian perniagaan, you may get through by memorizing hard though. scoring 4 flat isn't hard if you go for 'easy' combination by avoiding maths and accounting if you are changing to art stream.

for me, it seems like you didn't demonstrate an interest in science since you didn't score very well in all the 3 science subjects in spm, or could it be that you put in almost zero effort? revising your D subjects before moving on is certainly a necessity, the problem is whether your revision in a few months can make up for the 2 years you wasted in your spm or not.

Look son, SPM is kindergarden level compared to stpm.
It's like spm= learning abc
straightly jump to
stpm=learning 500+ words of essay without learning the way to contructs sentence.
If you don't believe me you can take stpm as private candidate and see what's your result by not attending form 6 class(private and government school). You will know who's the real boss LOL~ History proved that many of the 4 flats scorers aint that great in their spm results. But who cares, the only important thing is 5 flats, Top 15 scorers.

But it's just a path to university, like other pre-u. The only benefit it will give to students is the first year of STPMer uni life is slightly easier than other students, after the first year, they will be the same level of difficult.
So form 6 is great, and not that great.
Great for self challenge, not that great in terms of process and entering local U.

actually 2.5 and above already qualify to enter local U. But if you want a secure place for competitive course (doctor, pharma, lawyer engineer and etc), better take 5.
let me tell u the reason why 5 is better than 4 subjects.
Coz each year there would be roughly 210+ students get 4 flats, and normally one local U accept the stpm students will not more than the total number of classmates in ur class now.

If such case happen, they will look on your MUET (assume that all of u get 4 flats), if MUET still same (for example, band 5~6), they filtered out band 5 one, and look at the band 6's koko. If koko still same, obviously 5 flats scorer will stand a better chance than 4 flats one.
Because if u get five flats, u only need to compete with other 14 ppl that have the same results as u. If u get 4 flats, u have to compete with 200 ppl. and so on.

Plus, the government U look on the pointer first, then only to subjects.
Needless to say they will give u a place first before they filter out some less competence 4 flatters.
Even if u screwed up ur fifth subjects, they will only focus on ur 4 best subjects to calculate ur pointer. Which means that if u failed one subjects, you still can get 4 flat, unlike others who took 4 subjects which is very bery risky.
After they filter out the pointer, the local U baru look on ur core subjects that will fulfill the criteria of the course u choose.

If u get matrik, please go ahead. Because matrik is almost 99% to get the course u want in local U, if u score 4 flat as well. 4 flat in matrik is easier to get compared to 4 flat in stpm, coz they're still using bell shape curve to change the grades according to average results. In stpm, u have to get atleast 75 marks in monthly exam to score A, and from what my teacher told me, the stpm standard for A is atleast 80. If u can get 80 marks and above for all subjects in trial then u are very likely to get 4flats in stpm.

And another good thing is that, government give matrik students to pick the course first, only after the course almost full (filled with matrik students), the very little space left for STPM 5 flats and 4 flats students to compete, matrik has advantage in entering local U and get the course u want, and shorter study duration too, but the bad thing is u will need to be extremely hardworking in first year la. Coz they study little knowledge only compared with STPM

owh, bumi stands higher chance to enter local U too, due to national policy.

There is no such thing as 5 flat.Even if u take 5 subjects for stpm, your cGPA will be counted based on 4 subjects only.Eg, if u gt 4As and 1B+ for stpm,ur cgpa will still be 4.0.By the way,is u read through other posts, there are still ppl who gt 5As but still could not gt their fisrt choices due to low kk marks.

I'm now studying STPM 2011/2012 and ex-science stream student too. My Science subjects in SPM wasn't good. As I given the offer to pursue in STPM, I accept it as there's no other choices to be chosen. Help me, I do want to get a best result in STPM. $-flat, I suppose. Thank you, for those who want to help me... I'll appreciate your contribution. Especially, in CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY and MATH T.
