Be Aggressive, Be Stealthy, Be Adaptive In Deus Ex: Human Revolution

QUOTE
Be Aggressive, Be Stealthy, Be Adaptive In Deus Ex: Human Revolution Still hungry for more Deus Ex: Human Revolution gameplay? You just got, like, eight minutes worth of Eidos Montreal's take on Deus Ex, but here's a little more, illustrating the myriad ways augmented operative Adam Jensen can deal with his enemies.

Our latest look at the Deus Ex prequel is familiar stuff—at least to me, as these were areas and scenarios that I played through when I went hands-on with the PlayStation 3 version of the game.

If you like what you see, Deus Ex: Human Revolution will come to the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on August 23 in North America, a few days later in Europe and Australia.

Deaugmented: Deus Ex 3 Highlights Optional

user posted image

QUOTE
The shimmery outline around key items and interactive objects in Deus Ex: Human Revolution caused a fair bit of consternation amongst Deus Ex fans the other month. Sure, it’s useful, but a big glowy yellow highlight around half the stuff in the world isn’t ideal for immersion, is it? It’s the old ‘loot glint’ argument all over again… Fortunately, the devs at Eidos Montreal appear to have listened to community feedback – you can now turn the bally thing off if you’re so inclined. Below: see what it looks like without glow-o-vision.

Also made optional is objective locators, which is another nice idea and welcome nod to the more steely-jawed DX player.

Here’s their explanation of both why they have highlighting in the first place, and why they’ve decided to make it an option instead of enforced:

QUOTE
Hooray! Good news indeed. Thanks, chaps. I’ll definitely be playing DX3 with the highlighting turned off. I’ll also probably be playing DX3 in my underwear whilst eating Mini Cheddars, but you don’t need to know that.

Thanks, Toner.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution does DX11, 3D, Eyefinity

QUOTE
Now we know why there has been so much new info specifically about the PC version of Eidos-Montreal's upcoming FPS -- Square-Enix has declared it Deus Ex: Human Revolution PC Week! We've already seen the game's system requirements and first PC screenshots, but now there's word that it will support DirectX 11 features (including tessellation), two modes of 3D, and support for up to five displays simultaneously using AMD Eyefinity. PC Gamer has the scoop:

Head of Nixxes, Jurjen Katsman describes a few of the improvements players with DX11 cards can look forward to. “We do use tessellation; this was one of the first features we started making use of with DX11. We mainly used it to improve character silhouettes, but also used it for some other objects in the world.

“In Deus Ex: Human Revolution you see characters up close a lot as you interact with them, like in dialogues. Using tessellation to improve their look really helps make the world and the characters more believable, which is important in a story-heavy game like Deus Ex: Human Revolution.”

The team say that they’ve significantly rewritten the engine to take advantage of the extra processing power of the PC. Even without DirectX 11, players with multiple core CPUs can expect increased frame rates. Eidos say that a dual core setup can be “up to a 70% increase” in speed on machines running on dual core rigs.

Eidos Montreal director of technology, Julien Bouvrais says “when it comes to DX11 or AMD-specific features we have developed, we wanted to make sure they were adding to the game and not just tacked on without real purpose.”

Steam's version is 45bux.. without the disk.. so I'll hold on for a retail ver. and the augmented version gifts don't really appeal to me.

Actually I only shop on steam for their special offers lol.

Deus Ex & Eidos Montreal Sites Hacked, Data Stolen

QUOTE
For a short time on Wednesday, Eidos Montreal's official website and the Deus Ex: Human Revolution site were hacked and replaced with a banner that said “Owned by Chippy1337”. The banner also contained the handles and names of several hackers supposedly involved in the attack. The hack is allegedly the work of Gnosis, the group behind the attacks on Gawker Media last year.

Square Enix confirmed the hacks to Eurogamer today. A spokesperson said that 350 resumes of potential candidates were taken from Eidos Montreal's site and nearly 25,000 email addresses were stolen.

"Square Enix can confirm a group of hackers gained access to parts of our Eidosmontreal.com website as well as two of our product sites," the spokesperson said. "We immediately took the sites offline to assess how this had happened and what had been accessed, then took further measures to increase the security of these and all of our websites, before allowing the sites to go live again.

"Eidosmontreal.com does not hold any credit card information or code data, however there are resumes which are submitted to the website by people interested in jobs at the studio. Regrettably up to 350 of these resumes may have been accessed, and we are in the process of writing to each of the individuals who may have been affected to offer our sincere apologies for this situation,” they explained.

"In addition, we have also discovered that up to 25,000 email addresses were obtained as a result of this breach. These email addresses are not linked to any additional personal information. They were site registration email addresses provided to us for users to receive product information updates,” Square Enix said. “No dissemination or misappropriation of any other personal information has been identified at this point. We take the security of our websites extremely seriously and employ strict measures, which we test regularly, to guard against this sort of incident."

QUOTE
Eurogamer also spoke with ”Venuism” - one of the hackers listed on the defacement banner - who suggested the stolen information has already been leaked. Logs taken from the IRC chat the hackers frequented mentioned the leak of the “src”, which many have taken to mean the Deus Ex source code. Venuism said that is not the case, and the names listed are being framed.

"We are being blamed/framed because we share a history with some of the people responsible for this hack. The main perpetrator 'ev0' aka 'xyz' has a vendetta against us over this history. The reasoning behind it was most likely that he thinks we will get into trouble with authorities,” he told Eurogamer. "He isn't responsible for the 'hack' since he is not really capable, he is however responsible for defacing of the sites and the leaking of the information.”

"The majority of the people who knew and participated in the hack are from Gnosis, the group responsible for hack of Gawker late last year, who have insisted they are not Anonymous,” he added. "We knew about the hack yesterday, and one of us went as far as to contact Eidos to try and warn them about a potential data leak. They were, however, unreceptive and insisted in the event something like this happened it would be an internal matter."

Another day, another hack.

Hmm is it really true? So easily getting hacked? Do you believe sometimes they did in on purpose to draw publicity?

Of course i do hope really they aren't really being hacked. Game looks promising.

This game feels a lot more like the original Deus Ex, according to those who play the leaked version, and way more better than pos IW.

PC version has it own PC UI/Inventory system instead of dumbed down console UI version, which's nowaday most of the game developers won't bother to create it anymore. Difficulty is quite hard, and have more different ways to finish your goals. Graphic is a bit meh IMO, but it's still ok, not the worst looking game.

So far it looks promising, at least it's not another IW remake. When they said they're going to make it feels like original Deus Ex, and they really mean it.

Added on June 1, 2011, 8:45 pmI just played a bit of this leaked DXHR, like other people say, it feels a lot like the original DE, and I also have the same feeling.

Remember the highlight issue that many have complaining about, they actually listened and you can turn on or off in the option now. The UI/Inventory system is well designed for KB/M, it's like you're playing a game that makes from 90 era.

I was wrong about the graphic though. I put everything max on my 6970 system, after playing a while, I do feel the graphic isn't that bad actually, screenshots can't really judge it until you play it yourself. And what surprises me is that they've made a lot of stuffs around the surrounding, almost every table is full of stuffs, you won't feel emptyness just like most of the games out there. I just hope the whole game is going to be like that.

As a DE fan, I'll buy it without a second thought(based on the leaked version that I've played). Unless they dump it down in last minute, which's not possible IMO. For those who loves the original DE, you should get it too. And buy the PC version instead of X360 god damn it. smile.gif
