Take your content to the shop (DVDs, BluRay,etc) ask them to demo on both technologies. See which looks better to ur eyes and get that. Don't look back. If u r going to use it for Astro SD, then I suggest u check out how they look in the display u wanna buy. Both technologies has their merits and demerits. Its important to like what u buy. |

QUOTE(VSX-AX2as @ Mar 10 2010, 10:06 PM) How true! Yes! believe your eyes. I prefer Plasma because the colour is natural & easy on the eyes. The colour for LCD in my opinion is not so natural & too sharp for the eyes (feel like cutting the eyes). I am not worry at all about the IR/Burnt-In for Plasma. Like people say if you are so obsessed with fear, go live in the police station. Sorry no offense meant. Thanks |

Plasma is better in terms of picture clarity than LCD. but plasma weakness is the lifetime.Limited. LCD can last longer. So its all depends on ur long term planning and ur need. Shop wisely

Seriously lifetime is not really the main concern of a TV nowadays.
I was once reseaching for TV back few weeks. In the end I got a LED LCD for myself, 90% for aesthetic reason. LCD - good in a brighter environment, energy saving, and lesser problem on worrying burn-ins, mostly full HD above 40", better for HTPC (primary concern of mine) Plasma - cheaper on bigger size, better blacks, require a dark surrouding, less issue on ghosting (I heard) Tht's a short point I listed out, hope it helps |

Lifespan n IR on plasma is waaaaaaaaaay exaggerated. Anyway, even at 30,000 hours lifespan, u can watch 8 hours a day for 10 years. Now, how many ppl actually watch 8 hours a day. Even if u do, that's 10 years! I have an LG plasma which has been used for Astro everyday for 4 years. No problems at all n still using for Astro everyday.
The new gen plasmas r supposed to b even better now so I don't c y ppl so paranoid bout it. My 2 other new plasmas oso hantam Astro everyday. I don't see no IR. |

Am I the only one suggesting LCD? I can't stand the glare of plasma. You either place it in an AV room or have your living room completely draped in dark curtain.
I myself am using samsung LCD tv and it worked well for all my media needs....ps3, astro, bluray, etc. In any case, either one you choose will always be worthy. I don't feel the disadvantage of LCD at all and perhaps plasma owner don't complete much about its lifespan. Even still, I'd still recommend LCD tv, its way better than CRT or even HDTV. Oh yes, since you mention Panasonic, I genuinely think that they make better plasma models than LCD. This post has been edited by funnyTONE: Mar 19 2010, 10:24 AM |

when our electricity traiff been increase one more time, than plasma user will be effected coz plasma require 2 times electricity consumption compare to LCD,
exactly, plasma is more supperbb quality picture compare LCD, but the only problem screen reflex i vote for LCD coz now many of TV company stop produce plasma TV anymore, sony and toshiba now just focus on LCD |

I watch & play everything on my Plasma Full HDTV in my living room.
I am very very happy with my HDTV. I don't notice any reflection at all. IMHO if you want to see reflection then you will see it. The mind is super powerful. It is called auto suggestion. Switch it off while watching your TV. Btw 3D HDTV is the in thing now. Look like plasma is the better one. Read already & the link:- http://www.i4u.com/article31950.html Thanks |

After moving to plasma from LCD, i would have to say plasma is way better. But the new Samsung LED backlit LCD is indeed very impressive.

Here's my take since I own both LCD & Plasma
Plasma: + Deep contrast, no motion blur issues, wide viewing angle - Burn-in (this is exaggerated old news/propaganda these days), slightly higher power consumption, glare (not really applicable to high end models), only available in 42" & above (larger screens) LCD/LED: + Vivid colors, less power consumption, new LED models are very slim & sexy, available in all sizes - Motion blur (frame interpolation kinda solve the issue but the result made the PQ unrealistic), Bright (depending on the spectator, there have been reported cases of viewing discomfort) One of the main reasons plasma lost out in the HDTV war due to the fact it is only available in bigger screens, while LCD has successfully captured the market share. This is purely based on economics, nothing to do with quality. Ideally, we'll all be flying Concord today if not for the price The other thing is, don't get carried away with all the Motion Flow XXXMhz. This is purely a sales gimmick Ultimately, the satisfaction of owning a HDTV boils down to Picture Quality. |

Just to be clear, I'm not a virtual salesman
If anyone is serious about getting a top notch plasma, you should look into Pioneer KURO. Yes, I own one. The reason being, lately they were on heavy discounts as they were no longer in production. You'll find good deals on the 42" and 50", provided if you can find them. Not sure if price will go back up eventually They were selling like hot cakes a few months back and stocks have probably depleted big time! Btw - a sales guy from a HiFi shop I went to recently in Bangsar Village II, told me that even the Pioneer AVR has gone out of stock due to high demand. Hmm...don't think he's lying as I was there to check out a specific model Anyway, If you'd like to know more about the Pioneer TVs, check out this thread. I think the S10 do have floating black issue. I sometimes do notice that the screen suddenly becomes brighter or darker(mild effect). I thought is the media player or the movie?
Anyway, it not really that bad....overall i am really enjoying the picture quality as its really good. |
