Not to dampen the mood here but as mesmerising Arshavin is today attacking wise I'm not the very least impressed with his sloppiness in our own half which could have presented Porto a goal. A better side would have made us pay and I hope its just a one off.

I'll be skipping this poll this time around. Simply because I don't have a favourite apart from Fabregas and Fabregas isn't my favourite either. As long as you wear the red and white then you have my support. A more general poll next time would be better IMO.

Some update for the upcoming Hull game. No good news unfortunately.

Cesc will most likely miss the match. Gallas' status is still unknown and fresh doubts for Sol and Sagna.

QUOTE
Cesc struggling for Hull, two more doubtful

By Richard Clarke

Cesc Fabregas is highly likely to miss the trip to Hull on Saturday while Bacary Sagna and Sol Campbell are considered to be "doubts".

The Arsenal captain sat out the midweek win over Porto due to a hamstring injury and afterwards Arsène Wenger classed him as "50:50" for the game at the KC Stadium. When the manager spoke to TV Online on Thursday morning, his odds had got slightly worse.

"It is a little bit more than 50 against now," said Wenger. "That means he will be very short for Saturday. We will assess him today. He is starting to run now but we think it would a gamble to play him on Saturday.

"Apart from him, we have an uncertainty with Sagna on his ankle. We also have a problem with Sol Campbell and how he will recover. He finished the Porto game with cramp. They are ‘doubts' not ‘big doubts'. But we have to refresh the squad a little so we will see."

Ahead of the Porto game, Wenger admitted the calf injury that had kept William Gallas out for the past month was "back to the starting point". On Thursday, the manager did not know how long the Frenchman would be absent but he was starting the job of finding out.

"I don't know [about William]," he said. "Wednesday was a day of rest and recovery for the players so we have to deeply examine everything to see where we go."

I doubt Song will drop down to CB to partner TV.. Macam tak tao lagi ngan AW.. it would be Egghead, unless he also injured.

FYI Song will be suspended against Hull. Serving the 2nd of his 2 match suspension after collecting 10 yellow cards.

QUOTE
The Gunners are currently level on points with Chelsea (who have a game in hand) and are two behind leaders United, having won all four Premier League games since back-to-back defeats at the hands of their rivals.

They bounced back to beat Liverpool and having been much further off the pace earlier in the season, Wilson says this campaign could well follow the same pattern as that famous Double-winning year 39 years ago - right down to a crucial game at White Hart Lane, where Arsenal head on April 10.

"Ok after the Man United and Chelsea games, it was a huge downpoint for the club, the team and for Arsene," he said.

"But I was lucky enough to see him a couple of days later before the Liverpool game and I reminded him just how good his team were.

"I said then there are 13 games left, the run-in I think, is as good as you could wish for and I would remind you that 39 years ago, we'd just been beaten really badly by Brian Clough's Derby side - this is our double side of 1970-71 - and we had 13 games to go.

"I think we were 11 or 12 points behind Leeds United and everyone said we were out of it, that Leeds might as well start celebrating and we might not even finish second.

"But we won 11, drew one, lost one and won the championship by one point. What I am saying it is absolutely feasible, because if we did it these boys can do it as well."

Still a very very strong squad despite missing some of our best players and fully capable of getting the needed 3 pts IMO.

F*ck me, wat a sh*tty performance but god damn relieved when Bendtner put that one away.

How sh*t was the Hull pitch? Diaby and Nasri were unbelievably lazy today IMO but I guess its due to some fatigue setting in.

Denilson had a decent games despite what some people say.

Passing was a bit off as well but I think its more due to that piece of crap they call a football pitch. The amount of bobbles the ball takes from a pass and how the ball suddenly slows down is just shocking.

If memory serves me right, the very few managers that clashed with Wenger were sacked for various reasons.

Mick McCarthy, for over celebration when his team scored the winning goals against us in the last few mins. Was it West Ham?

Phil Brown, for the shit that he said about us and Fabregas.

Martin Jol, challenged Wenger to a fight and reminding others how strong is he.
*
It was not Mick McCarthy during the West Ham clash, it was Alan Pardew IIRC

It would be super if he returned to Arsenal next year, and then win the CL again as we become the first team in recent years to retain the cup after winning it this coming May. tongue.gif

Honestly speaking, it's an arduous task even if we beat Barca... I reckon Inter would be even more difficult to manage than Barca due to Mourinho's miserly defence and tactical foulings.
*
Haha that would be fairytale IMO.

I think the quarter final ties this year have been the best and the most intriguing in years. CSKA Moscow are no easy meat and I expect them to cause Inter a problem whereas Bayern has every chance of beating the Mancs as well. On his day and when fit Arjen Robben IMO is one of the best and most dangerous wingers in world football even more so when Man Utd has had problems at RB with Gary Neville clearly on the wane and Rafael not so experienced just yet. Supported by Ribery and Schweinsteiger, very very mouthwatering midfield triangle indeed.

Yeah Barca will no doubt be an arduous task but really I am puzzled at the way at how some fellow Gooners sort of indirectly concede defeat already just because its "Barca". On our day we can match and beat any team in the world, and that goes for Barca as well. My only concern is I hope Wenger doesn't go all conservative and still stick to our usual game when we face them. Damn, I can't wait for this freaking game to start.

Well since it wasn't such a serious challenge hopefully it can be rescinded to 1 match ban or 2 at the most.
*
Yeap. Arsene simply has to take the chance and appeal. It would be stupid not to since there is absolutely no chance a challenge like that would warrant a lengthened ban.

Regarding Vermaelen's red he will be banned for 2 games. Well, according to the lads at ESPN's final score. Means its Birmingham and Wolves, which we should be able to cope. Thank God he will not miss the Spurs match.

Credit goes to Manuel Aluminium as well last night. He was excellent, apart from a reckless throw which landed straight back into the hands of West Ham. He has been very good as well over the last couple of games, which is good news that he is on the way back to his best at just the vital moment.

I'm not sure if he got his fingertips on the Carlton Cole shot which hit the outside of the post but my first impression is that Manuel did get a slight touch. If he did, well done Manuel.

i tot pires was broken his leg during 01/02? he took whole season to gain back his form at 03/04
*
Yeah he did but it was not a broken leg, he did his cruciate ligament. When I said "Pires no" I meant that his playing ability suffered and wasn't even close to the great player he was before the injury. Visibly lost his pace and ever since then has been shying away from those 50/50 challenges, not that he can be blamed though. He was still a good player after regaining his fitness but no longer a great one.

Some good early morning entertainment indeed.

QUOTE
Sir Alex Ferguson questions FA decision not to extend Thomas Vermaelen's ban for a 'frivolous' appeal
By Chris Wheeler

Sir Alex Ferguson has questioned why the FA did not hand out the same punishment to Thomas Vermaelen as Rio Ferdinand and give the Arsenal defender an additional one-match ban for a ‘frivolous’ appeal against his sending-off against West Ham last weekend.

Arsenal failed to get Vermaelen’s red card overturned, and Ferguson said: ‘It’s so inconsistent, it’s difficult to analyse why Rio’s was frivolous and that wasn’t.

‘Only the FA can answer that. They don’t come out with a report on it, do they? It’s sitting in the chambers of their minds.’

I can't believe the rubbish display I have just witnessed. Barca's defence was absolutely terrible. I'm absolutely gutted we couldn't punish Barca. On one of our usual displays we could have gotten 4 or 5 goals. Despite the opposition this is one of the worst Arsenal displays I have ever seen as an Arsenal fan.

I'm pleased and partially grateful with the result considering the circumstances but this match has potentially f*cked our BPL hopes with all the injuries.

This draw does not change the fact we still have to win in Nou Camp.
*
I don't see any problem with that. Barca hasn't impressed me one bit tonight.

Our players played like pussies tonight. The amount of time the Barca players had on the ball tonight were shocking to say the least. If the lads had that extra bit of steel and fight tonight and not give the amount of respect they gave we would have trounced them hard.
