Gavlim...
Why does the XP120 block your RAM slots? I installed mine with the pipes facing the PCI slots and all RAM slots are usable. I've got mine in slots 1 and 3 (orange slots). No problems booting whatsoever.

Here's a pic of the XP-120 with the pipes installed towards the PCI-E slot. My LianLi v1000b has an inverted Mobo so you may have to reorient... The RAM methinks benefits from the airflow from the 12cm thunderblade... More pics in the sig if you're interested in this kinda thing...

QUOTE(gavlim @ Jul 10 2005, 05:15 PM) macdanife i think we have the same setup there. the ends of my pipes are pointing away from the pcie slots (ie the front is towards). I initially installed it the other way (pipes towards RAM slots) That blocks the first RAM slot and in addition, there is only a few millimetres clearance btw the Thunderblade fan and the back of my NVidia card. The reverse way (as pictured) is MUCH better. Haven't had a chance to note down temps yet. Am away from the rig during the weekend. For once, I wish I was at work!

New official 623.3 BIOS available over at DFINote this is NOT a beta. Have flashed my mobo, stable. Can't comment on overclockability as I have yet to overclock the WorkRig. Been to busy actually working... for once....

Have you guys noticed how high the northbridge temp gets? the one reported by nV Monitor as "system". My rig has it about the same or a few degrees higher than the CPU temp. With much cable management and the addition of another inflow fan, I've got this down to 46C at idle but the high 50C on extended gaming sessions. I'm assuming this is common to NF4 chipsets...

QUOTE(antonio_zth @ Aug 4 2005, 05:20 PM) try gettin those aftermarket northbridge cooler for a change....or if u cannot find one....try getting Vantec Iceberq 4....it fits quite difficult but it does the job rather well... Yes a Vantec Iceberq 4 would definately fit (needs to be low profile due to proximity of the PCI-e slots) and the copper will do a better job. I have one cooling a Radeon 9800 Pro in my son's Shuttle. The original MSI heatsink fan went bust and the Iceberq performs well. However.... I kinda like the mirror/silver finish of the DFI NB cooler. Think I'll keep this underperformer cos she just looks so damn good! Yes, basicly I'm really very superficial...

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Aug 11 2005, 12:54 PM) Sorry to disturb the flow of the discussion but anyone running XP120 on this board with a ~2-2.5K rpm fan on suck position? Does it affect your pwm and ram temps? What's the temps? Ambient temps? Thanks. Not running it anymore but when I first set up the WorkRig with the DFI board, I was cooling my FX53 with a XP120. It was not on suck but was on blow (that is air was towards the mobo rather than away. I've tried it both ways but as Monica Lewinsky would tell you, it makes little difference. Suck or blow achieves the same result. Did it affect PWM and RAM temps? Well I can only comment about PWM temps as I don't have temp probe on my RAM anymore. The PWM temps were unchanged when I switched over to a Coolermaster Aqua Mini. That may be because hot air is now directed OUT of the case rather than kept into the case. It dropped however with the addition of a fan that blew onto the 7800GTXes (and consequently on the NB fan). Hope that helps...

QUOTE(CcL @ Sep 18 2005, 06:27 AM) hmmm actually i've ordered the vantec iceberq4 (not pro version!) however i've read that some people actually drill new holes or mount the fan sideways etc.... wats wrong? u sure can fit just nicely? thanks antonio Be sure to post before and after temps... Interested in changing out the NB fan in my NF4 SLI-D if the temp drop is significant...
