woot just setup my pc... bought this to bring overseas in sept.

A64 3200+ Venice
1Gb cosair xms ddr400 3.3.3.8
MSI 6600gt
WD 250gb sata
coolermaster real power 450w

with this basic setup what can i do? ayam noob in overclocking. only had chance to o/c my p4 1.6 to 2.0. that didn't need much skill.

now i go thru the lanparty bios i also get headache... all the voltage and etc etc etc... are there any overclocking for noobs guide - dfi style? haha

however i've got another prob...

i freshly installed winxp sp2 and updated it bla bla
the hardware is new...wat happen is that in games, the pc would freeze for a few secs then un-freeze, then freeze again and it keeps repeating. i've downgraded to the WHQL accepted nvidia display driver to no avail...

can it be the BIOS? i'm using 510-3... or what can be the matter? thanks!

after trying 510-1 510-2 510-3 still got prob
then i tried NF4LD326
now halflife 2 runs well... but doom3 1.3 still got prob. keep crashing.

whats the deal with BIOS. isn't there a good version?! last nite i first flashed to 310 which was on DFI's website... dual channeling screwed up and memtest showed 2309 errors.

bios 3/26 is okay but still slow at the memory. at least can run hl2 and counterstrike now unlike 510. is there a better bios out there? *sigh*

yes i'm running at stock. how to o/c when stock already got so much prob

just rebooted. wc3 started playing fine. at least no freezing in the menu. however halfway thru the game totally hang.

oh and the merory is running in SLOT1 and SLOT3... the yellow slots. in the OLD bios it had to run on SLOT2 and SLOT4 or it wun be dual channel. *sigh*

setting in bios? how to show?
i din touch it.. oni did load optimize bla bla...

btw.. i run memtest. the normal test all ok. then when i go in config
then choose MEMORY SIZING
then choose BIOS - ALL (default is BIOS - STD)
then 5668 errors appear....
wat is BIOS - ALL?

this is bad... urgh!!!

shit!!

ermm if dun use optimized defaults what should i use? set what?

hmmmm
i notice the dual channeling fukup when its in the yellow slot
i tried 1 ram then 2 rams (single channel)... all works well!

now i try putting the ram in the orange slot dual channeling. all seems fine. i used the yellow slots bcoz i was afraid after reading one of the post saying "using orange for dual channel will burn ram"

can anyone tell me where did this rumour came from? and is it normal that it can't dual channel properly on yellow slots? thanks...

anyone installed the latest nforce driver 6.53??
after installing the nvidia ethernet driver, it works... can retrieve ip from dhcp server. but after installing the network access manager and firewall, it requires restart.

after restarting the nvidia LAN port doesn't work anymore. doesn't detect ip or anything.. grrr

any ideas? i upgrade to 6.53 coz i keep getting bsod with Nvtcp.sys error. thanks!

i was just giving a good look at my mobo and i realised, there is no parallel printer port.... ?!?!?! how do i get that fixed eh??

3mths old++ mobo start having chipset fan problems, its grinding and slipping and what not... i read its quite a common problem... what kind of replacement can i look for? i can't possibly take it back to lowyat for warranty claim bcoz i'm not in malaysia anymore.

thing to note is that the video card actually sits above the fan too... so i can't just go for a "bigger" fan right... any fans you guys can recommend? the url etc etc from ebay or online shops will be good.

however i've read that some people actually drill new holes or mount the fan sideways etc.... wats wrong?

i've installed the vantec iceberq4 (not pro). first of all, it does NOT fit!!! i mean there are 2 clips. 1 pin-clip went in fully, the other one has only the head in, can't seem to press it thru the mobo ori hole. antonio_zth: can help me ah? the clips can't even go in fully, let alone 100% heat transfer leh...

anyway i couldn't be bothered since it is not droping down, i screwed everything back and am using it now. if you ask me about temperatures, the stock cacat fan 46deg @ 6800rpm. vantec with the thermal compound that came with the fan gets 46deg @ 4800rpm. these figures are done with BT, DC++, ICQ, MSN on. THAT IS ALL! damn cacat rite... i also don't know what is wrong. (figures are done with smartguardian on AUTO).

antonio say he gets Chipset = 38c (idle) 41c (Full load)... how u get it leh antonio? i mean i don't really care coz i bought the vantec to replace the failing stock fan. but since i paid so much i my as well get the best out of it right... someone help me leh...

hey guys
i plugged in 2 casing fans to the mobo's fan2 and fan5 socket
so using ITE smartguardian i can control fan2. however still can't control fan5 la....

is there any program to control all the fan sockets on the dfi ultra-d? save money don't need a fan controller....

guys,
i got a fan controller, how do i plug the chipset and cpu fan to the controller so i can manually control it; as well as plug it to the mobo so i can see the rpm from smartguardian or bios?
