a quick reference for u, not necessarily work thou. since ur havin gud pieces of hardware why not u try it out yaself. 3.8GHz aint a mammoth task for d spec ur havin (almost all are premium). some more, u got a BE chip there, tonnes of combination u can have. yawn.gif

d easiest way is to crank up d cpu multi while maintainin ht link feq, get ya nb freq ~2.5~2.6GHz, ram wise u really need to test how far they can fare. corsair non dom gt aint really fantastic to me, nevertheless u can always give it a shot. i'd say 1600 @ cas 8 is possible with some tweaks here & there... smile.gif

even without a be chip it's still possible to run ya ram @ rated freq, thou d no of combo are not as much as BE chips. u just need to couple appropriate htt with ram divider, as simple as that. nod.gif

for day to day activities, i doubt ram will affect much (com'on, dun tell me u can't wait just few seconds/minutes). most ppl gettin performance ram for one reason only - braggin right... tongue.gif joke aside, as long as u can live with it (low scores in benchies), value ram aint that bad. if u get lucky, u mite have d chance to brin ya value ram near to performance ram level. wink.gif

imo they wanna clear out all d 955 & 965 1st, else no one would wanna buy d 2 models mentioned. imagine, even priced @ same range (bar d possibility of gettin d other 2 cores unlocked), 960t @ x4 offers much better mileage, not forgettin d turbo core function which does d oc for those ppl who are lazy to oc 'emselves. athlon x4 are decent but more for end users only. tweaker/overclocker will always prefer deneb/thuban... smile.gif

Im using dark knight. Highest temperature 70c under stress prime95, idle temperature 41c. With 3 heat pipe the cooler cant handle stress very well, might wanna change to 5 pipes or more. Any recommendation ???

as for cooler, atleast go for true, even ultra-120 (non extreme) has problem tamin d heat of 125watter 1050t. it's better to get a premium grade cooler now if u were to upgrade to x6 in short future... nod.gif

870a-ud3
pros: award bios, nice look, can't be wrong w/ oc.
cons: NOT being a full sized atx, no bios for x6 yet (not a concern thou)

m4a88td-v evo:
pros: sexy look, full sized atx
cons: well, that ami bios & bein a mid range asus board usually means mediocre in oc

pls help me to help my fren to decide... tongue.gif

880g is just a 870 w/ igp. my fren considerin it coz he hates non full sized matx board, painful to d eye if put into his tj-09... tongue.gif

it's more of look vs look issue, oc wise we all know who's d winner rite... just checked d evo manual, all voltages are available w/ very small increment, not a bad thing to have but again, asus mid range boards are known to be mediocre... certain risks involved here... unsure.gif

gaygay @ $195, evo @ $22x... $2x for better look + igp (heck care) + risk for bein a lemon board... dilemma.... icon_question.gif
