P1, Digi 3G, Maxis FTTH, Maxis 3G all have their own domestic network, and have their own international transits.

We’re currently deploying over 2,400 WiMAX base stations nationwide plus additional 2,000 micro stations (picocells) for in-building coverage. These are for superior 4G indoor coverage and to cover at least 65% of the nation’s population. Besides that, we procured 1 million WiMAX single chips to be embedded in our varieties of devices such as mobile phones, netbooks, laptops, etc.

Our value proposition from day one is to provide seamless mobile Internet coverage and complete 4G experience for consumers and businesses alike. We will do this by making the coverage nationwide at one go. We plan for Q3 soft launch whereby we will make the 4G services, rich contents and applications and some devices available for live trials in selected areas. By Q4, once we have sufficiently cover the populated areas, we shall commercially launch the 4G service.

We can’t disclose the pricing or the actual speed just yet but it will be for sure significantly faster than what we have at the moment in the wireless broadband space.

As for latency, wireless network will definitely have a much higher latency than wired no matter how quick the speed can be. Games should stay away from wireless internet as there will be spikes in ping times and it will be affected by environmental factors. (Eg, temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure) as this technology uses wavelength over air, those factors will affect the performance. Try going to USA and use a satallite based internet connection, the latency is high (at least 100ms) but the speed is great.
