anyone got info about the fuel consumption ?
besides, can anyone help to upload or send me the link for the service maintenance charges chart ? 5k (km), 10k (km), 15k (km), 20k (km), 25k (km), 30k (km) and so on ????
*
Maintenance charts are never accurate la. Its just another sales gimmick. You will always see very low figures for maintenance especially for Korean makes. But in reality its always high. Ask those who have been maintaining Korean makes at authorised SC's. Its generally higher and spare parts more expensive compared to Japanese brands.

oh.... izzit ... omg ....

any sonata owner can advice ?????

Only those who have maintained Korean makes for some time will be able to advise you. No point asking new owners since theire cars are under warranty and probably still free maintenence. Ive had Korean makes in my family. Thats why i know.

What i mean is normal service maintenance.... since it have 5 years or 300k warranty .... guess no need to ask about the parts issue... tongue.gif
*
300K warranty is against defects not against wear and tear. Nobody is talking about defects or quality issues here. I am also refering to servicing.

What ive seen is that Korean parts dont last as long as the Japs. Thus requiring you to change more frequently. But some are saying this new generation of Korean makes have better quality standards. We'll only know in a few years time.

The difference in resale value for cars above 5yrs old is very big between the japs and the Koreans. Dont look at cars less than 5yrs old and say that the resale value is more or less the same.

Full tank around RM120(RON 95) can last for about 550km.
Always use km/L to gauge fuel consumption. Your 'full tank' is surely not full thus the '550km' is also not accurate. Your full tank is 70L so that would mean approx RM 135 not RM 120.

I would assume your 550km mileage per full tank is for city drive which is actually not very economical.

QUOTE(tishaban @ Jan 27 2011, 05:41 PM)
If resale value is such a big deal, why don't people wait a year or two and buy a used car? Let the original owner take the depreciation. 2008 Camry 2.0 is RM120k, brand new price is closer to RM148k. 2008 Sonata is around RM80k, brand new price was RM120k

If you really want the latest and greatest then you have to deal with the extra money.
*
Yes if resale value is a concern then taking a 1 or 2 yr old car is best. But then again there's always suspicions as to why the original owner would want to sell after such a short period. Thats wht usually keeps buyers away. Sometimes its easier to sell a 5yr old car than a 1 yr old one.

Correction to your assumption, I always left 50km of capacity before i pump petrol. There is a indicator in sonata to determine how long distance you can go before your car insufficient of petrol(in case you dunno). So, RM135 for 600km in this case.
So 71L for 600km mileage which adds up to 8.45km/L. But i guess the poor fuel consumption readings could be due to the fact that its a heavy car and the engine still hasnt broken in yet.

Camry is a boring machine, I had own it 2 years now and just place my booking for 2.4YF last week, trade-in my camry.
U bought a Camry in 2008/2009 and u traded it in for a Sonata last week? Somehow i find this very hard to believe unless the car was an accident car. Anyway, im sure you have your reasons to your post.

Not accident la... Just wanted to upgrade to 2.4L machine, test drive both 2.4 model and de YF indeed had more response... Comparing to the specs, YF is more equipped, yet cheaper, and its not boring, you can't see it every where on de road at least 1 year (probably more)... Dont care on de built quality coz won't going to drive it for the rest of my life. Make sense now?
*
Not really. Saying the car is boring is not acceptable since long before you bought in 2009 there were already many Camry's on the road. This was a known fact and yet you bought it.

Yes Sonata is better looking and has comparable specs but the ppl that buy Camry's are usually the more mature and older generation which are not easily swayed by these cosmetic things.

RM11K cheaper will not be enough to sway Camry owners. Did u know that Camry actually maintained their original sale numbers despite the introduction of the Sonata? The Sonata hasnt been seen much on the road despite being launched bout 7 months ago.

Dont care bout build quality? if u say u dont care bout resale value then its acceptable but everybody cares bout build quality. If u didnt care then u would be driving a Proton not a Sonata.

I still doubt very much that you are truly a Camry owner who decided to switch to a Sonata within 2 years of purchasing a Camry.

ooo.. Thanks Ben83.. will surely check around then. Any particular ones to recommend?
Yes i too heard that the 3K overtrade is for current models as well. The earlier idea was to push off 2010 stocks but now they wanna increase sales for the 2011 model. Check out dealers who do not have 2010 stocks. They will still offer the overtrade for their current models.

Im quite sure the place u checked had some 2010 stocks so they were trying to con u into buying the 2010 stock by telling u there is no overtrade for the 2011 models.

Always take your time and check out at least 10 outlets before purchasing.

You can get a 1yr old Sonata from Sime Darby (manager's car) for 126k

I have a good feeling all the new Hyundai will have very strong resale value from Sonata onwards. The new Avante which I heard is coming in Sept is another beauty.
*
It wont be very strong but it will surely be better. Yea most ppl are waiting for the new Avante since it was shown at KLIMS 2010.

Just booked one after test drove yesterday. I was abit undecided since Froday after test drove Toyota Prius, checking on the latest discounted Camry (Damn lotsa discount given) and Sonata..

After much research & trying to pacify myself that this car will not depreciate much due to so many assurance given by the salesmen & also the 2nd hand guy wth me this morning telling me that the rationg of FC, maintenance in US is very good and just a rank below Toyota & much better than Honda...well..I decided to book.. rclxm9.gif

Beh tahan wth the lucury feeling, sunroof, the push start thingy 7 etc that Camry/Accord at similar price can't give  sad.gif ..Otherwise, I probably hv book a Camry 2.0 (low spec) liao which is abit cheaper after discount...

Now praying hard when time to change 5 yrs from now...I still can get the value i wanted just like I traded in my current Civic without any worry of topping up to pay-off the instalment  hmm.gif ..I even no ned to top up anything to get this Sonata wth the Civic  smile.gif
*
Based on the Sonata's sales, you will surely need to top up to cover the remaining loan (assuming u took 90%). I have more confidence in the Kia Forte holding its resale value compared to the Sonata. YOu should have just waited for the new Camry.

Btw, how much is the discount on the Camry now?

Wah likedat chiaklat liao...I'm taking ~ 80% loan after minus the remaining O/S loan for my Civic

Probably I topped up abit to reduced further and taking 7 yrs loan so that by 5th yr, I dun suffer kua?

Damn..such a refine car but not selling well in M'sia...haha
*
Always take the shortest loan period possible when buying a car. I believe that anybody who cannot afford a 5 yr 90% loan should not be purchasing that particular car. But thats just me.

Im now taking an interest in the Hyundai Sonata after seeing disappointing pics of the upcoming Toyota Camry hybrid (which could be similar to our model). Any idea when the facelifted version will be launched here in Malaysia?

Lol i few days ago i bump into this car, I was curious what the heck brand this car was. I tot it was new Luxus, wah, so sporty look even better than my Mazda 6 2.5.  cry.gif

Mazda 6 2.5 was said to be low resale value. now after 3 years it turns out better than Accord/Camry. This new Sonata might also follow this trend.  smile.gif It is a seriously sporty unique look compared to its competitor.
Do you have data to show this better resale value?

Btw, Honda and Toyota has better resale holding power. Within the first 4-5 yrs, most cars will have similar resale value percentages. Its only after the 5th year that you start seeing a major difference between the Japs and other makes.

a couple of months ago I saw Mazda 6 2.5 selling like RM10k higher @ the same time vs Camry Accord 2.4L in thestar.
You saw the price of the Mazda 6 (2.5L) higher than the Camry 2.4L by RM 10K?? Did you also know that the M6 is about RM 5K more expensive than the Camry 2.4L?

When you talk about resale value you need to look at a few adverts and then get a median. Not just look at 1 or 2 as there are many opportunistic sellers out there.

Resale value is highly dependent on demand which ties in with original sales volume and also brand perception.

Some sale statistics for 6 months (Jan-June 2011):

13,801 - Toyota Vios
7,258 - Honda City
3,911 - Toyota Camry
2,982 - Kia Forte
2,579 - Nissan Teana
2,179 - Honda Accord
2,003 - Hyundai Sonata

Abit sceptical although I pray hard that in 5 yrs time, my Sonata will be able to maintain the value..haha..Even Hyundai also can't guranttee me wor..They still said H&T having an edge on 2nd hand value for sure  sad.gif
Nobody can guarantee anything bro espececially with the new generation Korean cars. But im sure of this though. The current group of Korean makes e.g Forte & Sonata will surely have much better resale value compared to their predecessors. But it will not be close to the resale prices of the Japs.

But in about 5 years time, if the Koreans can improve on their after sale service, quality and brand perception then im sure the Japs will be threatened (or overtaken) especially if they come out with crap cars like the 2012 Civic and 2012 Camry Hybrid styling. vmad.gif

One thing about the Korean success is proven even at LYN. Just simply look at how a few Japanese/German pro fanboys changed now compared with their previous replies.
Not really. U must remember that you are talking bout higher end cars e.g Camry, Accord, Altis, Sonata...not the average Proton or Perodua. Most of these owners will not be on Lowyat posting comments.

Yes la..but what i mean is compare the number of actual Camry/Accord owners who are on LYN compared to Forte owners for example.
