Exactly why do you want to OC your CPU?

QUOTE(amirudin920927 @ Mar 6 2010, 01:43 PM) You do know it's not going to give you a huge performance difference right? You need to do your research on overclocking plus your own CPU. Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Overclocking isn't an easy/cheap solution to increasing performance. It's an enthusiasts thing. You need to be aware about what it entails to your system. You already have an X4 and most games are GPU intensive. Just how much of a difference do you think it will make? Again make sure you know what you are getting into. |

QUOTE(amirudin920927 @ Mar 6 2010, 01:19 PM) not all stock proc speed will show u the correct speed u know..it listed at box 3.0-- but cpuid show 2.98 something.. its very common for proc manufactured to roundup to most x.xx digits. eg. 3.00, 2.83, 2.66, 2.33 |

QUOTE(amirudin920927 @ Mar 6 2010, 01:43 PM) playing games well... You should be aware that overclocking will stress the motherboard. Depending on the motherboard design, most enthusiast class motherboards can do it easily without much stress at all (due to having better VRM). However I'm not sure whether your motherboard will be able to withstand the overclock over long periods, furthermore its a branded PC (ie. usually boards on branded machines are very limited). |

It's quite normal la bro... Don't worry. Experienced or expert user also know about this. There is no perfect value and speed in pc. Let's say for example, the core clock is 1.5GHz(written on the OEM box) but it actual speed is not at 1.5, maybe 1.45 or something but it also very close to 1.5. [/url]Some USB Flash driver also, you may try yourself, plug in a any flash drive into your pc, and then check the capacity of the drive, if you plugged in a 2GB flash drive, it might show not 2GB actually, maybe something like 1.8x or 1.9x. It is normal, don't worry. |

The answer is simple. Your clock speed is generated from the CPU multiplier x FSB/BCLK. The FSB number fluctuates a little and every motherboard would have a different reading of FSB slightly. As such, 200FSB doesn't always mean 200FSB sharp, it can be 199.7 or 200.3, etc. Hence if you look at your screen shot, your FSB is 199.5 which is why you're running 2.793Ghz (14 x 199.5)
If your board can manage to run the FSB at 200 sharp and does not fluctuate then you'll be getting 2.8Ghz |
