Hey Kave users, anyone have their headset wires from the control unit to the headset itself curling up all the time? My keeps on curling up, and it's damn annoying doh.gif.

and 1 more thing, can i buy this headset at lowyat, is it available there?do i need to order from any shop first or just walk in?

sorry very noob regarding this headphone thingy sweat.gif

Try looking for it from Cex / Lingloong / Moderno instead. You might have a better chance of getting some discount.

i myself just ordered it from lingloong. Will be getting my set after hari raya. Was in the same predicament as you were between g35 and the kave. But went for kave in the end. I was really keen to G35 as i already have a few collection of G's in my posession

Great, another Kave User laugh.gif.

One thing to keep in mind is that, it's a pretty heavy thing, so if you have the length set wrongly, you might experience discomfort. You'll soon get use to the weight though nod.gif. It's a great headset, especially when paired with a great sound card brows.gif.

Ahh, if you hear any buzzing sound, and you're using Windows 7, just head to the Sound page in Control Panel and disable the +20dB increase for the microphone, it should stop the buzzing. Don't know if this works for Vista hmm.gif. Works for me most of the time nod.gif.

Thing to get kave as well.
One question here, i would like to get kave and using it for my notebook.
As notebook only have normal 3.5mm port, so i have found CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER X-FI SURROUND 5.1 USB SOUND CARD.
Is it suitable for kave?
Thx smile.gif

Should support without a problem, as long as there's four jacks hmm.gif.

My Roccat Kave has a problem of loud hissing/white noise when just having it powered: no matter if audio plugs are connected or not and no matter if powered by AC to USB adapter or a laptop running on battery. I contacted Roccat's support for the issue and tried everything to make sure the problem wasn't caused by any external interference. Roccat's support concluded that it was a defect so I RMAed the headset. Now I've gotten new Kave in exchange but this unit has exactly the same problem of hissing. I'm going to RMA again but I'm starting to think it's a design flaw and not just bad luck of getting two defected products in a row.

I'd like to know if anyone can confirm that there exists Kave that don't hiss at all (as perceiving hissing is subjective).

Mine doesn't hiss at all. Maybe you're really unlucky. Or there's something wrong with your computer.

I have experienced the hissing noise before, but only when I wasn't using it with my computer. I used it on my phone together with a USB 6 port hub which has an AC adapter. It'll hiss every time there wasn't anything playing. But it'll stop as soon as a music starts playing. Perhaps there's something wrong with the USB ports on your computer.

And like what the others have suggested, have you tried testing the headset with any of your friends' computer?

I just tried with my friend's PC (another laptop both connected to mains and on battery): same hissing. I've tried now with 3 PCs and an AC-to-USB adapter. I wouldn't blame anything but Kave itself for the hissing anymore. I would accept a little amount of hissing like I've experienced with Speedlink 8793-SBK Medusa NX 5.1 but the magnitude of hissing with my Kave is unacceptable.

So it doesn't hiss at all on your PC - even when not playing music? In my case playback doesn't make the hissing stop. Of course loud playback hides the hissing but every time, when there's a more subtle part in playback, the hissing is easily distinguishable.

Yes, it doesn't hiss when I'm using it with my computer. By the way, have you tried checking the microphone's setting? I have experienced the microphone with the +20dB sound boost option causing minor hiss sounds before on the Roccat Kave.

Yes, I tried that too with no effect. Anyway, I'm keeping Kave despite the hissing.

I'm sorry that you're only able to enjoy the Roccat Kave to a very small extent.

Anyway, have you actually tested it any other PCs which are not from your home or you have only tested on the computer systems in your house?

guys, I am grabbing one Kave this week and of coz after that I only have lil money with me after buying Kave. Should I just buy cheap sound card or.. just fund my money to buy a good quality of sound card while playing around with its stereo? smile.gif
*
Save up for a good sound card. Buying a cheap sound card ( <RM100 ) wouldn't exactly give any significant improvement in sound quality over the integrated sound chips on most motherboard nowadays smile.gif.

Guys..ill be going to KL next week...planning to buy roccat kave at lowyat. Can u guys recommend me which shop gives the best price? and can we test the this kave before we buy? Scared got defective item cause im from sabah...

You could consider buying from ModernoPC's shop. They are much easier to talk to compared to the salesmen in Lowyat who seem to not be interested in dealing with you at all wink.gif.

Now using onboard sound...is there any different if i upgrade to other sound card...say  Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro?
*
There should be a difference in sound quality, but how noticeable it is depends on the user. Some may notice while some may not.

Anyway, I have used the Roccat Kave with the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro sound card before, and there's definitely a big difference compared to the sound chip that my current motherboard has. The bass that the headset has with the Elite Pro sounds better. The sound card also somehow breathes magic into the music that I listen to. I would have continued using it if it hadn't died sad.gif. Right now I'm considering to save up for the ASUS Xonar D2X since I'm pretty much spoilt by the Elite Pro. smile.gif
