If price is of no concern, would you choose granite or tiles for your kitchen table top ? Any other options ?

choose a material that can be cut exactly like the size of your tabletop. basically, it used a single piece for the whole length of the tabletop.

tiles, get the 2"x2" size, solid surface is much more difficult to maintain compare to tiles

I know its the most widely used ..but how good is 2x2 ..last time remembered Erny Looi recommended something smaller ...2x2 not sticking nicely even for table top ..but smaller than 2x2 not nice already la the table top smile.gif

Agree with this, solid surface is harder to maintain, not susceptible to stain.

for versatility i would say go for 2X2... even if u whack it.. u can easily replace the tiles. And the table top will last you for ages... if you can find a good tiler... they can make it look almost seamless. My second choice is solid surface... more versatile than the granite and cheaper also. The best if you can find engineered stone(quartz).

hahahahah thats why its the best choice... and if u can afford it... the weird thing is that in europe its the other way around... granite is actually more expensive there... Quartz is good cause its very resilient against scratches and stain.... can take heat damage and it can be repaired... looks better 2X2 tiles. the only thing is thats its crazy expensive and not many carpenter have it. Very hard to find a good master who knows how to work with Quartz so thats why i choose solid surface.
