What range for SNR & Line Attenuation recommended to upgrade?
Can SNR (20-26dB) & Line Attenuation (45dB) upgrade to 4mb?

Let me quote from here:

QUOTE(kkm @ May 29 2010, 02:53 PM)
<To repeat my post from v3, in case the closing means no one saw it>

Just need a quick comment, tech came yesterday and installed a 512kbps line although I applied for 4 mbps (usual TM cock-up!).

Anyway, I asked him to check the line. The modem says SNR is 25db and attenuation is 35db. He is saying the SNR is good, but the attenuation is marginal, that I shouldn't go for 4 mbps as the attenuation will go up, and the line will be unstable. So he recommended for me to upgrade to only 2 mbps.

Any comments/advice?

Your SNR is acceptable, but your Line Attenuation is way too high. However, you could ask the installer to test your line. All 4mbps Streamyx installation is subjected to test by the installers.

My Numbers:

Local Line Atten.: 7.5 dB
Local SNR Margin: 34.5 dB
DSL Standard: ADSL2+
Profile: Main
Tx Line Rate: 507 Kbps
Rx Line Rate: 5115 Kbps
Max Attainable Line Rate(Down Stream): 22560 Kbps

I wanted to change to Unifi, but I heard a lot of complaints regarding the stability and etc. Should I just change to Streamyx 4mb? FYI, I'm using the 1mb package right now. Is there any significant difference? What's the minimum torrent speed obtained from the 4mb one?
*
I'm using Streamyx 4mbps. The download speed of torrents are depending on the amount of seeders and peers. I could get 300-400kbps without any problems for popular torrents. Megaupload downloads are 200kbps max for each file (non-premium) and for mediafire downloads >400kbps.

Claim? Just bring my phone bill to TMpoint? I haven't got mine. My streamyx connection is activated since July 2010.

At last, I got my free DECT phone as I brought my Streamyx bill to TMpoint @ Burma Road to claim it today. It is a Panasonic KX-TG6411 DECT phone. Nice!

Why not wait them to courier the phone over? Is it very long waiting time hmm.gif

I think TM forgot to send me the phone. If not, the waiting period is just way too long. This Block Buster deal starts billing me in July, and I haven't got my phone until I collect it personally in September. doh.gif

Got a simple question here... anyone can help to answer.

Can I bring my ADSL (+wifi router) modem (provided by TM) and connect to another phone line and use Streamyx?  What happens is that I will be going back to hometown and there is already an active Streamyx line but I wish to use my own (just make use of it since I am paying for it).  Would it dial+connect just as per normal?

Another question, subscribed to the blockbuster deal for 2 months now ... no sight of the DECT phone.  When will I receive it?
*
Provided if the line is already installed with Streamyx, you can use your existing wifi modem and it would connect as normal. However, the speed will depend on the cap of the phone line. As for the DECT phone, please bring your phone bill and claim it at your nearest TM point.

Hi guys, just wanted to ask, i upgraded my package from 512kbps to 1mbps, and i was told by the counter staff that they will ask technician to come my house for setup, so i'm wondering why do they still need to send someone to setup for me? At first i thought the technician will come to open port for me or whatever it called, but today i open PPS to watch movie and noticed the download speed has improved, from 500kbps (before upgrade) to 1000kbps (after upgrade), so i'm wondering whether i'm already on 1mbps speed or not...

EDIT: my modem page showing that my up/down rate is 2048/512.
*
You are now getting 2mbps download but paying for 1mbps only. Congrats!

i applied for 1 mbps today and i asked for streamyx in a box, the lady told me i could start using by today and do not need any activation or wadsoever. After setting up the wifi modem seems like there are no internet connection. ps, i was an existing user till my bro cut the line so after 1 month quarantine i registered today. Please help me. Thanks in advance!

You have to set up the wifi modem to connect to Streamyx using your account and password. Read the manuals or use the installation CD (and READ!) to make your internet work.

I wanted to know , which packages will they change the streamyx port ? which packages ?
*
IMO, 2mbps and 4mbps require different ports (from 1mbps) as these speeds require confirmation from Streamyx Installer on-site before the green light is given. Furthermore, I have a friend who wanted to upgrade from 1mbps to 2/4mbps but was denied as TMPoint told him no port was available.
