QUOTE(robinlim @ Apr 23 2010, 10:32 AM) Thx for the info, bro Yes, available at most of the larger retail chain-stores. Could be cheaper if you shop around the fringe stores. Not sure if you'd still find it in June though. These things usually sell out pretty quickly. If you want, I can get one for you and hold it until u come over. The steelbook edition is available in any of the Music/Video store in HK at this price? Will be going to HK early of June so might get one there It's supposed to come with a deck of Avatar-themed poker cards as well (not the art cards), but HMV told me they havent received the stock yet, told me to come back in 3-4 days time! QUOTE(horray @ Apr 23 2010, 11:09 AM) Thanks for the reply bro. That's too bad. Was hoping there was, as so far all the Asian releases are not identical. I like the China one best - the back cover just shows the face with no text. Beautiful. The HK one is rather messy. |

Not being anal or anything, but just wanted to point out a couple of things. The Asian releases of Avatars are Ironpacks. The UK version is the only one that is a Steelbook. What's the difference? Ironpacks tend to be slightly inferior in their quality (if you're picky). Take a look at the Ironpack's spine and you'll notice the metal cutting is less refined, and even misaligned in some cases. The metal sheets are also thinner and feel less solid (soft). The Steelbook on the other hand are much better in quality and build. Just thought I'd share that.
QUOTE(robinlim @ Apr 25 2010, 12:15 PM) I want 1 copy only for my own collection I think we better talk thru PM. Or u can get from alexwlh since he got ready stock, so u can get it faster rather than wait until June. Let me know thru PM.about the poker cards, pls help me to check with them whether they still have stock how about u? have u got urs? thx very much Added on April 25, 2010, 4:32 pm QUOTE(aiman04 @ Apr 24 2010, 07:00 PM) That was lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 640kbps, which was already awesome as you mentioned. Yep, the Deep Note was pretty awesome!! Made my subwoofer scream like a little ecstatic girl. Bookmarked it.Wait until you hear that same THX trailer in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 24-bit lossless. It will shake your b*lls. To experience this, stay until right after end credits of AVATAR on blu-ray. This post has been edited by terranova: Apr 25 2010, 04:32 PM |

QUOTE(sKyWiR3pT3lTd @ Apr 25 2010, 06:02 PM) Optical can pass HD audio. Just not 7.1, Optical cable maxes out at 5.1. HDMI is the only way to transfer 7.1 HD audio. But if you only have a 5.1 setup, an Optical cable will be able to carry all audio signals you equipment is capable of handling. Now obviously, HDMI is the best for both audio and video, but Optical will be fine for your acceptable sound blast. skywire - although it may seem like it of late, i'm really not trying to pick on you every time. honestly. but i don't think you're really helping this forum by passing on misinformation to those who are less in the know. this is doing a real dis-service to this forum as well as its members. i'd suggest you refrain from passing on your half-baked info unless you are certain of the facts. as they say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. kindly refer to brother aiman's post above. this is the "reference point" we use around here. optical cables do not have the necessary bandwidth to carry HD audio signals (i.e. DTS-HD MA and Dolby THD). @ aiman - thanks. i was hoping you'd pull out your famous diagram again. lol. Added on April 25, 2010, 8:40 pm QUOTE(maskedchan @ Apr 24 2010, 11:13 PM) surprise surprise.. technically, it's not region free (i.e not region ABC). It is however region AB, so will work fine on your region A machine.avatar uk release 26apr..but already dispatched for me hopefully it is region free This post has been edited by terranova: Apr 25 2010, 08:41 PM |

have not been following the avs forum. can anyone chime in on the Shaving Ryans Privates audio-sync issue - is this a real issue with the US version of the blu-ray? as i understand it, the audio-sync delay starts from Chapter 15 onwards.
QUOTE(toratorabluray @ May 5 2010, 09:36 PM) hey what happened to V7 and my post? I answered in v7. u won't need any additional hardware. just play the disc and follow the on-screen instruction. the disc comes with a paper lense for some of the tests. Mod can at least merge or copy those posting to here ma there's some good pointers there given by sifu here regarding the Digital Video Essential if u planning to get the DVE, u may also want to consider (as some ppl prefer) the Spears & Munsil calibration blu-ray disc. |

QUOTE(aiman04 @ May 8 2010, 11:13 AM) Seriously guys. Those who spent so much on your home theater: Macam beranak aje? MUST GET SAVING PRIVATE RYAN ON BLU-RAY I kid you not. Watched the opening D-Day landing again, almost had tears in my eyes. Never thought my puny subwoofer had it, but it made me feel like a proud dad. Waa like that must bump up my order to Priority Shipping! |

just re-watched Eagles Farewell Tour on hd-dvd and was wondering if anyone would be willing to rip it and burn it to blu-ray for me? I'd pay for the service, of course.
actually, is that even possible? |
