is there a steelbook version of Avatar for MY market?

Yes, available at most of the larger retail chain-stores. Could be cheaper if you shop around the fringe stores. Not sure if you'd still find it in June though. These things usually sell out pretty quickly. If you want, I can get one for you and hold it until u come over.

It's supposed to come with a deck of Avatar-themed poker cards as well (not the art cards), but HMV told me they havent received the stock yet, told me to come back in 3-4 days time!

Was hoping there was, as so far all the Asian releases are not identical. I like the China one best - the back cover just shows the face with no text. Beautiful. The HK one is rather messy.

Not being anal or anything, but just wanted to point out a couple of things. The Asian releases of Avatars are Ironpacks. The UK version is the only one that is a Steelbook™. What's the difference? Ironpacks tend to be slightly inferior in their quality (if you're picky). Take a look at the Ironpack's spine and you'll notice the metal cutting is less refined, and even misaligned in some cases. The metal sheets are also thinner and feel less solid (soft). The Steelbook™ on the other hand are much better in quality and build. Just thought I'd share that.

skywire - although it may seem like it of late, i'm really not trying to pick on you every time. honestly. but i don't think you're really helping this forum by passing on misinformation to those who are less in the know. this is doing a real dis-service to this forum as well as its members. i'd suggest you refrain from passing on your half-baked info unless you are certain of the facts. as they say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

kindly refer to brother aiman's post above. this is the "reference point" we use around here. optical cables do not have the necessary bandwidth to carry HD audio signals (i.e. DTS-HD MA and Dolby THD).

yep, based on the reviews so far, Saving Private Ryan will be very the awesome with DTS-HD MA 5.1. I can already picture the whizzing bullets flying all over the AV room. Really can't wait for this one ....

have not been following the avs forum. can anyone chime in on the Shaving Ryans Privates audio-sync issue - is this a real issue with the US version of the blu-ray? as i understand it, the audio-sync delay starts from Chapter 15 onwards.

I answered in v7. u won't need any additional hardware. just play the disc and follow the on-screen instruction. the disc comes with a paper lense for some of the tests.

if u planning to get the DVE, u may also want to consider (as some ppl prefer) the Spears & Munsil calibration blu-ray disc.
