This is little Aiman's favorite movie, we watched 3 times in theaters. He's gonna freak-out when I bring this home later.

But the lip-sync aint on all BDs. Some noticed it but others have flawless audio (according to avsforum)

On another note, I think it was not being treated with the crappy 25Hz filter.

Tested Saving Private Ryan last night. I specifically go to 2.01 time and check the scene where Upham describeb what the woman was singing about, yes there is a lip sync issue but it's very, very slight. You'll only notice it if you really looking for it, and it's a wide shot showing all of them in the scene, not a close-up where you can really see their lips.

Anyway, 5 stars audio, I agree with that Blu-ray.com's reviewer to not take any points out because of the lip sync issue. Never did any checking if the LF capped to 25Hz though. The LF sounds really "lemak" and tasty to me. Surrounds are crazy, my house must be clear of any pests now, I think they ran away when I tested this. So anybody need pest control, no need to call Rentokil, Ryan's private is here to shoot them.

The picture, also 5 stars. What else? Janusz Kaminski is an artist. His movies can only be appreciated on big screen or in HD. Now I can really see the beauty of his work. I understand what he's trying to bring. It's a painting. I didn't see it this way with my DVD. Same with Minority Report, the color is really stronger on BD. So much details. Can't wait to see War of the Worlds, and the Tripod shall give you the hardest scream of a horn you've ever heard in your life (yes, I can predict the future, trust me tongue.gif ).

Just wondering why the so-called Sapphire Series have so many flaws & shortcomings given it suppose to be the flagship/pinnacle of all editions  doh.gif  Though the flaws are nit picking and small imo, it shouldn't happened in the first place especially if they want to live up to the name SS; being the best of the editions. First with Gladiator, now with SPR..... or was all these marketing? Gladiator (remastered) will be re-release later this year, I heard...  hmm.gif

I can see your point. But I think it's still too early to give a verdict on the Sapphire Series. Forrest Gump and Braveheart are nothing short of magnificent. Gladiator's transfer was taken from an old one that was done by Universal, not Paramount. And as you mentioned, a remastered version is on its way, though nothing official yet. And all the Sapphire Series never fails to deliver extensive bonus features on the second disc.

This lip sync issue in Saving Private Ryan is really minor, in my opinion not even worth mentioning. The sound is so engaging, enveloping, detailed, crisped, superbly designed and edited it's just topped my list of the best sound on BD ever, taking over from Avatar which held the crown for less than 2 weeks (capped at 25Hz maybe but the overall experience was out-of-this-world). Seriously, this is the best sound I've ever heard, as peasant my home theater is, no theater I've ever went to ever sounds this good. And we've got a seriously misunderstood cinematography that gives the picture that artsy look to match. I say this is another winner in the Sapphire Series.

Seriously guys. Those who spent so much on your home theater:

MUST GET SAVING PRIVATE RYAN ON BLU-RAY

I kid you not. Watched the opening D-Day landing again, almost had tears in my eyes. Never thought my puny subwoofer had it, but it made me feel like a proud dad. blush.gif

Finally watched District 9. Sharlto Copley is a miracle, he should win an Oscar (looking forward to see The A-Team). Same thing came to my mind as I did while watching it in theater: they should go ahead with the HALO movie now. Give Neil whatever budget he needs, this guy got talent. I've been saying this since I saw his shorts ALIVE IN JOBURG (which this movie is based on, too bad they didn't put it as part of the special features) and TEMPBOT, I was so impressed.

ALIVE IN JOBURG

Too bad I can't find TEMPBOT, I like it even better. For a story about a robot, t has so much heart, you can relate it to your own working life.

Amazon just gave me 50% rebate on my SPR as I have arranged to ship it to my friend in the US and too much hassle to arrange for return. I asked for 50% rebate and they almost immediately gave me. Should have asked for more.  rclxub.gif

Maybe for those of you who have received your copy can try to get the rebate.  thumbup.gif

I wrote to them this morning just to ask about any replacement plan for Saving Private Ryan BD because of the audio sync issue.

When I checked my email just now, I see 2 emails from Amazon, one responding to my query one about a refund. In their response, they refunded to me 100% including shipping cost and asked me to keep the BD.

Really got me scratching my head, I wasn't even complaining as the lip sync issue don't bother me much. I just owned th BD and it's DHL shipping for free.
