Hello everyone !

I'm very new here but I thought I'll join in. I read the questions crane posted and I have a few more I would like to add. I'm currently doing CAL at Taylor's College and I thought I'll do Civil Engineering at Nottingham.

1. What are the ratio of local to foreigner students ?
2. How are the lesson conducted? A huge lecture and then smaller tutorial class? Or more like how we are all used to in secondary school? If so, how big are the classes/tutorials?
3. Are the lecturers keen to stay back with you and help you with your problems/questions?
4. Why did you guys chose Nottingham ?
5. This is to the students doing Civil Engineering, what exactly do you guys learn? Is it more towards maths or physics? Maybe with more specific details? Because I'm not sure if this is the right course for me yet.

Thank you in advance guys.

Aly.

1. What are the ratio of local to foreigner students ?
I would put it at 80-20 with 80 as local.

2. How are the lesson conducted? A huge lecture and then smaller tutorial class? Or more like how we are all used to in secondary school? If so, how big are the classes/tutorials?
Lectures are quite big during foundation and first year courses, but as more elective options open they get to a nice size. Tutorial classes are essentially the same as lectures.
3. Are the lecturers keen to stay back with you and help you with your problems/questions?
Lecturers for the most part are more than happy to answer to problems during lecture breaks. You can also make an appointment with a lecturer for further questions.

4. Why did you guys chose Nottingham ?
Decent University I would say. Also the option to switch over to Nott UK was nice.

5. This is to the students doing Civil Engineering, what exactly do you guys learn? Is it more towards maths or physics? Maybe with more specific details? Because I'm not sure if this is the right course for me yet.
How difficult is it to graduate with 1st class honors in Nottingham?
N/A I took Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

How difficult is it to graduate with 1st class honors in Nottingham?
Usually an average of 70% and above is the requirement. The exact detail is not too clear though. An average of 70 and above is achievable.

Where and what do Nottingham engineering grads usually work as?
A wide range of companies I would assume. I currently work at Motorola.

What is the rough estimate of engineering freshgrad pays?
Depends on your luck I guess XD

Is the Nottingham in Malaysia ranked the same as the UK one?
Not too sure about this one.

Thank you so much NFG89! Very much appreciated.

I went over to Semenyih the other day to check everything out. The room they got on campus is very very small, and I went to the biggest one they got. The cafeteria looks very run down though, at least the indoor one.

I did not manage to check out the library, is it a comfortable place to study? Since the rooms are so tiny, I don't think I'll spend much time there to read.

You guys are awesome for replying oh-so-very quickly and honestly!

I was wondering, what is the timetable like for the engineering course? Like how many hours a week? Do we get to arrange it or it is fixed? And usually, what time will your class ends? I'll be doing first year of civil engineering. Just wanna see if I should stay on campus or travel back and forth everyday.
