there is always a question mark about the quality of a branch campus of a university, and how much consistency there is.........

so if monash is ranked 40th worldwide, does it mean it's the same for the msian campus?.........

note that the entry cutoff for certain courses offered at multiple campuses are different.......check monash's prospectus........clayton is always higher than the others........

and i was reading the nottingham msia prospectus........while they claim equivalence, and possibility of transfers, it is subject to 'minimum grades'.......ie you have to achieve certain minimum grades to be eligible for transfer........which imply the standards at the main campuses in and around nottingham is higher than msia..........also, the prospectus seem to suggest that exams are set locally, not the common exam papers used in their uk campuses.........

at least they use proper english.........i was also reading ucsi's prospectus, i found so many english mistakes, it reflects very badly on the establishment........

@limeuu:It's because Nottingham Malaysia trying to achieve something different.
Monash Malaysia get everything from their Australia campus, whereas Nott is trying to build something up here, which is something comply with local culture and standard etc.
There are pluses and minuses,of course.
Why everything must follow UK?
IMO,a good lecturer should make you understand what he/she is delivering.
the discussion was on uniformity of standards.........

in any case, you are mistaken.........

you are NOT in school anymore.........needing to be spoon fed..........

a good school teacher will make you understand.........

a university lecturer doesn't have to........he is an expert in his field, and he shares his knowledge with you........it's up to you to understand.......

further help comes from tutors........

i don't know how notts msia operates, but if you attend any of the unis in uk or oz, you will have 2 sessions of contact per week, a lecture of usually 2 hrs (not compulsory to attend), and a tutorial/practical of 2-3 hrs conducted by tutors, who are advanced students (compulsory with attendance marks given).......

the lecturer shares his knowledge at the lecture, it provides a frame work, and a direction for that particular topic, you are expected to do research yourself, and the tutor will help if you still have problems, on a one to one basis........

if you still cannot understand, maybe they have chosen the wrong student for the course........

malaysia is not bad in the engineering sectors IMO.

we already have intel, WD etc opening factories in our country since years ago, compared to..uk? what does UK have to offer for engineering jobs? please enlighten me.
*
trust me, the industrial might, and engineering of the brits is much more advanced compared to msia........but they have moved on to more value added economic activities, particularly in finance.....albeit facing a setback at the moment.......

intel/wd in msia are screw driver operations.....

the gov is running out of money, and are already pulling back on some scholarships, even those already promised and admitted......

eg, mara has cancelled the overseas imu-pmc scholarships, and wants the students to finish their mbbs course locally in seremban, even though the students have already successfully completed their phase 1 studies and have confirmed offers overseas......

so expect less and less of these overseas scholarships....

Guys, there is a little problem going on here.

You see, I've received an email from the Admission moments ago, content are as follows,

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I don't really understand (in fact quite confused rclxub.gif ) now, anyone come across such cases before? Another friend of mine who is already studying in Nottingham just got the offer letter directly. 1K is not a small amount you know...
*
what that means is that, you have NOT formally applied for admission. However, it appears your qualification is adequate for them to accept you for that course...........

since you have not formally applied, they also cannot formally offer you a place....therefore to receive a formal offer, you will need to apply and pay your application fees.........

generally, if you meet the deadline stated, you should be given an official offer........

people who have formally applied and paid the fee will get a full offer straight off...........
