QUOTE(rxy @ Jul 4 2010, 11:19 PM) but we need to get at least 65% for every subject during our foundation year i think.and i heard we can do Mpharm for 4+0 or something locally. not quite sure about that. This post has been edited by kellyisevil: Jul 5 2010, 03:51 AM |

QUOTE(zstan @ Jul 5 2010, 08:42 PM) lol. u were told? yes i was told its all about memorizing. LOL. so i guess its fine? definition of chemical from wiki: In chemistry, a chemical substance is a material with a specific chemical composition.[1] A common example of a chemical substance is pure water; it has the same properties and the same ratio of hydrogen to oxygen whether it is isolated from a river or made in a laboratory. Some typical chemical substances are diamond, gold, salt (sodium chloride) and sugar (sucrose). Generally, chemical substances exist as a solid, liquid, gas, or plasma and may change between these phases of matter with changes in temperature or pressure. Chemical reactions convert one chemical substance into another. so no...u dun study that in pharmacy...u only do organic chemistry..looks like u have a lot of research more to do.. LOL. i like memorizing. |

QUOTE(zstan @ Jul 5 2010, 09:02 PM) pharmacy is more than memorising.. u need to apply what u learn as well.. for example: if medicine A is for stomach pain, B for fever, C for cough. doctor ask u prepare medicine. u have to know how much dosage u should prepare, whether A & B will react with each other or not, or will A nullify C's effect. if its just plain memorising, there would not be shortages of good pharmacists because everyone can memorise. please do more research before you decide what course to do. MPharm is not cheap. to be blunt you dun even know what does a pharmacist do and your knowledge of this course and career are from your close friends/relatives who are not real pharmacists themselves. no offense ya. they strongly suggest me to take pharmacy. LOL i do know what a pharmacist do. LOL i work and learn from them during my sem breaks. LOL!! Okay maybe my understanding about pharmacy is shallow. LOL. But like i said, its about memorizing stuff. LOL you do need to memorize it and then apply in daily life right? if not whats the point of memorizing it? LOL This post has been edited by kellyisevil: Jul 5 2010, 10:23 PM |

QUOTE(zstan @ Jul 5 2010, 10:30 PM) so why do they say its easier than medic? nope, firstly, i like chem,my advise..? why do u want to study pharmacy in the first place? peer pressure? aunty tell u? parents tell u? secondly, the demand for pharmacist is quite high (in brunei). LOL no one ask me to take this course, i asked them about it, then they gave their opinion. my parents are pretty much fine with anything. Added on July 5, 2010, 10:34 pm QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Jul 5 2010, 10:32 PM) pharmacy kinda involves biology (physiology, to be exact) and chemistry, doesn't it? yea -.- i know right. LOLyou come from SPM chemistry? You have so much more to learn. Good to know you're interested in it. Just be sure that that interest stays with you for as long as it takes to complete your ambition. spm is nothing. i am not sure to go to foundation or take A levels. QUOTE(zstan @ Jul 5 2010, 10:41 PM) u r from brunei? errmmm..which part of chemistry u like? well..if u do foundation there's no much choices left but to go straight to the intended course but with A-levels u got more flexibility(provided results are good). QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Jul 5 2010, 10:41 PM) take A levels. In my opinion if you can study for it, always go for the one with a wider option. Time is nothing to young people like us. yes, i thought i was going to overtake my father's ICT business but then later on i changed my mind after i realize how much i love science. LOL. Then it was between medic and pharmacy. Then i made pharmacy my first choice, and then medic my second. T_T and i was so sure about pharmacy. LOL!! i feel hilarious right now IMHO Most people know what they want to do after a pre-U (either because they realise the knowledge involved or Pre-U sparked the true interest). Post-SPM students should not be making that decision now. My personal experience: when small, I wanted to be a computer engineer (that time (UPSR) I knew nothing about it, juz know computer damn nice), then i wanted to be a cardiologist ( (PMR) that time still dunno much about bio), then I want to be a psychologist ( (SPM) kinda interested in human thinking, thank god for the inner scientist in me to stop me), and for a while I wanted to study sociology ( (STPM) wanted to quit science). But being interested in mechanics has always been a part of me. So, here I am, waiting to study mechanical engineering (thanks Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman). Maybe my 'interest' is still changing... Shiat.... BUT WAIT, the foundation cant be that easy right? I mean there must be standards, if not i dont think its that easy to enter Mpharm. QUOTE(zstan @ Jul 5 2010, 11:18 PM) means u r not trying hard enough. LOL. er, job opportunities.Added on July 5, 2010, 11:23 pm erm. so where does brunei come in the picture? go ucsi do a levels la. nearer to semenyih ma.why need go till taylors? girl, if u like science/applied bio/applied chemistry, study science, not pharmacy/medicine la. set your priorities right. do u even know what a pharmacist do? if you are working in the hospital for example. aiyo..as u said..for A-levels..study 2 years..just do 3-4 subjects..for foundation about 11 months..study about 7 subjects(not sure about notts foundation programme).. how can compare? usci? lol i dont like it there. yeash. LOL its like the doctors tells the patient his problem, then the patient tell the pharmacist then the pharmacist gives the medicine. =) right? hmm.. yesh, i get a clearer picture now. =) |

QUOTE(zstan @ Jul 6 2010, 12:02 AM) u go brunei research before? taylor because taylor is clean? HAHAlol. why dun like it there? what u like about taylors then? ermm....correct in a way..but the patient dun tell the pharmacist la..the doctor will write a prescription for the pharmacist and the medicine will be dispensed..but this job is now more in private hospitals.. in gov hospital..dispensing jobs will be done by dispensers...graduates with diploma in pharmacy...ur job will be looking through at prescriptions given by those housemen..check whether the dosage correct or not...then u need go in clean room prepare IV drugs n nutrients for patients..and u might to need to round wards to check on patients conditions and their medications..whether need increase or decrease their dosage....etc.. QUOTE(loveless90 @ Jul 6 2010, 12:10 AM) Brunei? job opportunities? HARH? yesh, brunei has less han 20 pharmacist . my aunt works there =)Has anyone heard of pharmacist not getting a job in malaysia? i certainly have never heard anyone say so... and malaysia is still in need of pharmacists, the last time i read on the news paper, there were only barely 700+ pharmacists in whole malaysia. How's that enough? KL might be enough but other places esp those ulu ones definitely no. QUOTE(zstan @ Jul 6 2010, 12:55 AM) yesh! its paid in SGD! and free car to use, free petrol ( petrol too cheap), my old house is in brunei, safe, peaceful.
