malaysia is not bad in the engineering sectors IMO.

we already have intel, WD etc opening factories in our country since years ago, compared to..uk? what does UK have to offer for engineering jobs? please enlighten me.

Plenty. It's just that the recession is making job opportunities lower. Remember that their R&D and Aerospace industries are far more developed than ours.

Hi,

Sorry for being a slowpoke but I'll just like to notify everyone about the University SA Forum: http://pelangi.nottingham.edu.my/forum/. Please spread the word to as many students as possible.

Hey everyone,

Just to keep you informed; Beware of giving rides to strangers from the surrounding area claiming to be students of Nottingham uni e.g. Semenyih, Kajang. They might be students from other colleges/unis claiming to be from this uni.

Always check their student ID first.

Me and my housemates rented a 4 room house for RM1.1k per month excluding electricity/water/internet/etc. bills. The house is fully furnished. It's at TTS 2, which is about 10-15 mins walk from campus.

HELLO
I am coming to UNMC this april for my foundatino year in engineering and i have been allocated Pangkor hall for my accomodation.

Can anyone tell me how the pangkor hall is?
I applied for the Single Ensuite bathroom with A/c but there were not any vacancies for i have to stay in Single shared bathroom  sad.gif

WHere will i eat my lunch, dinner and breakfast ?
*
Pangkor is the nearest to the sports complex. But all the halls are quite near each other so you won't have to worry about that.

There's the main cafe in the student association building. You can buy your breakfast, lunch and dinner there. It is made up of many stalls: Noodle stalls, Mixed rice stall, Chicken rice stall, Western Food stall, Indian food stall, vegetarian stall, drinks and dessert stall and a fried rice corner. At the back of the student association building, there's another Indian food corner, another drink stall and an Arabic food corner.

Apart from that you can also order food from local restaurants which will deliver to the university without charge although they can be very slow at times. If you have a car or have a friend with a car, you could go to Semenyih or Broga for food. In Semenyih town, there are plenty of restaurants (Malay, Chinese, Mamak, Hawker, Thai), cafes and even a KFC. In Broga you'll have lots of Chinese restaurants and kopitiams. Broga is famous for pan mee.

Then there's Pelangi Semenyih (where Tesco Semenyih is located). Again, you have lots of restaurants there including Pizza Hut, KFC and Secret Recipe. There's another KFC inside Tesco Semenyih (I know it's quite hard to believe that there are 3 KFCs in Semenyih) and an Old Town Kopitiam.

If you want to have McDonald's you'd have to go to Kajang Prima, which is slightly further. There's even a PapaRich over there.

yes, i mean off compus accommodation. so i can conclude the house rental is arnd 1k for 4 rooms excluding electricity / water and internet.

thanks a lot for the reply.

That's for TTS 2.

For TTS 5 The rental is around RM1.4k - RM1.5k per house every month. But TTS 5 is much nearer to campus, approximately 1 - 5 minutes walk away only.

Speaking of vacations, Broga Hill trips are quite famous.

Don't forget Sungai Tekala Waterfall, which is also quite near Semenyih.

And there are quite a number of fishing spots in Mantin, which is not near, but also not too far.

Oh yes, and if you're too free, go look for Setarbak Kopi at Beranang, which is also around the area.

And when you're done looking, go have some real Starbucks at Jusco Cheras Selatan. And do catch a movie while you're there. biggrin.gif

Yea..sux. There's this module that I have, it's 2 x 2000 words and 1 x 3000 words = 3 essays for 75% of the marks.

Added on March 31, 2011, 10:35 pmI just wanna check what's the common rent rate for TTS2 now for a house that's fully furnished? It is a common practice to pay for summer months (June, July, August)?

I did pay for the summer months, but at some very low prices. That's the deal we have with the landlord. TTS5 though.

OK..how much is the current rent for a house in TTS 5? Do you know about TTS2?

Hi guys, I'm going to start my days in Nottingham as a freshman of foundation in engineering. Sad to say, I am gonna live at off-campus accommodation(TTS2) because they said on-campus accommodation was full. Can anyone tips me with how's life in this university and what should i bring along for daily usage given the situation that I'm going to live in off-campus.(example: water boiler?...)

I'm quite a fussy person so:
