GOnna get one for my dad!! Is this phone recommended for old man? He will be using it on sms, call and some wifi and GPS. Im liking it very much and i assumed that my dad will like it. Any obvious problem with this phone? Thanks.
*
Make sure he is ok with the buttons on the phone. some ppl I know thinks the buttons are too small. so I think that could be a problem. And also make sure he is ok with surfing on small screen.

yah man... i emailed nokia to express my dissatisfaction on how they market their products and that the early adopters (which generally are the hardcore supporter) are sort of "cheated" coz - pay more, get less, and have to live with a buggy phone, waiting for software update (oklah... not like the latest update is that great lah... but still)

come come... those who are not satisfied, lets all complain here brows.gif

To those who are interested, this was my complaint to Nokia.

QUOTE
First Q, how come the E72 is not in the list of phones?
------
Actually, I am writing to express my displeasure toward Nokia's marketing strategy. Here is my story. I bought a E72 on the first day of launch for RM1699. Now, about 6 months later, the official price has dropped to RM1320, and comes with freebies (bluetooth headset and car-holder) which in total, costs about RM200-RM300.

I feel very disappointed by the way Nokia has treated the long time supporters. In a way, I feel somewhat "cheated". I pay more, get less, and have to live with the many bugs the phone has. And now, even after 2 updates, the bugs are not fully rectified (infact, some new ones are introduced). It seems to me that Nokia is more interested in maintaining its market share than the interest of its loyal customers.

In my opinion, Nokia it is fine that the price of the phones are reduced over time, but if freebies are included, I feel that it is only fair that the early adopters (mostly hardcore Nokia supporters) are given vouchers to redeem such similar items, or the very least, discount vouchers to purchase the items. Thank you for your time and I hope that my opinion means something.

Best Regards,

Tee Lim

And this was their reply.

QUOTE
Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

However, your reply seems very general and does not really answer my question/comments, which I feel is nearly as bad as not replying.

Anyway, I wish to highlight some of the problems I have with the E72 after the latest firmware update:
1) in Menu, the 7 and 8 button does not respond when pressed

2) in Quickoffice, copy and paste (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V) function does not work (this function could work before the latest firmware update)

3) switching profiles using the "Silent/Ctrl" button does not work properly. When pressed (hold fore 1 sec), it will switch profiles and immediately switch back. e.g. If in "General", after pressing the button, it will change to "Silent" but immediately change back to "General". This happens both ways and occurs 80-90% of the time (I encountered this the day I got my phone - no change/improvement with each firmware update). With comment 2) this practically renders the button useless.

This are the problems/bugs that I am encountering at the moment. And hopefully, I do not find anymore.

Thank you for your time.

dunno what they will say lah... hope they give a smarter reply

Dear Mr. Tan,

Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.

We  recommend that you take your Nokia E72 to an authorised service center of Nokia for further analysis. The service center technicians would be able to rectify the fault, they will be in a better position to assist you upon analyzing the mobile phone.

Kindly take along your original proof of purchase as this will determine the warranty status of your mobile phone.

You can use this link to locate the nearest Nokia center in your area:

and then... beh tahan... so replied with this...
QUOTE
Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

Regarding my complaints (besides item no.3, which may be due to hardware problem), item no. 1 & 2 only surfaced AFTER I did a firmware update. I have check with a few E72 users and they experienced the same problem only AFTER the firmware update as well. Clearly, this is due to a bug in the latest firmware. I seriously doubt the Nokia Care Centre can do anything about it. My intention of informing you guys over email is that, hopefully, you guys can forward it to the relevant department.

Also, my complaint regarding Nokia's marketing strategy and that early adopters like me feel "cheated" (because we pay more, get less and have to live with the bugs the phone comes with) was just brushed aside.

As a whole, I think this is poor customer service and for my next phone, Nokia will definitely not be one of the choices. Thank you very much.

Looks like the GPS is one of the main factors which made you guys chose E72?
I'm looking more on other stuffs since I already have a Garmin Nuvi in my car.

Can anybody tell me what are the other factors of E72 that you are satisfied with?
*
