However, during playback I noticed that PCM is indicated on my receiver display panel even though I have selected Dolby TrueHD. Please enlighten me If your Blu-ray player has decoded the HD audio, it's already become LPCM format so there is no way your AVR can know that it was in TrueHD or DTS-MA. The only way to see the TrueHD and DTS-MA light up is to bitstream from the Player and let the AVR do the decoding. Unfortunately you mentioned before that you are using the LX61 as your amp. This set doesn't have HD Audio decoders built-in and therefore can't accept bitstream HD Audio. So you are stuck with the Blu-ray player doing the decoding to LPCM. You won't be able to see the HD Audio info displayed but rest assured you are still getting HD Audio. This post has been edited by Ngto: Feb 26 2010, 03:15 AM

QUOTE(minimize @ Feb 26 2010, 03:11 AM) Set PS3 audio setting to Bitstream instead of LPCM Depends on whether his PS3 is the old Fat one or the Slim one. If fat PS3, then it won't be able to bitstream HD Audio.

I believe if you want to decode both Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD, you have to meet the following specs :
1.) Your AVR is able to decode both Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD.
2.) Your Blu-Ray Player is able to decode both Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD.
If you have met the above requirements, but your AVR still can't show you the Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD. then you have to go to your Blu-Ray Player Setup.
Example, my Blu-Ray Player Panasonic DMP-BD60, I go to Setup --> Sound --> Digital Audio Output --> Select "Off" for BD-Video Secondary Audio.
Then when I put either Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD blu-ray movies, I will see my AVR shows me either Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD, no more Dolby Digital.
Cheers!

Just a HTIB which I doubt it can decode loseless audio.

QUOTE(interpol @ Feb 26 2010, 11:54 AM) THIS APPLIES IF UR BD PLAYER IS EITHER THE PS3 FAT OR PS3 SLIM. if ur player is ps3 fat and ur avr does have the truehd function. -please select LCPM ON UR PS3 FAT AUDIO OUT SETTINGS.-U WILL STILL ENJOY HD AUDIO/TRUE HD,ITS JUZ THT UR AVR WONT DISPLAY 'DOLBY TRUEHD',IT WILL DISPLAY PCM OR LPCM.(THIS IS AVR DEPENDANT) if ur player is ps3 slim and ur avr does have the truehd function. -please select BITSTREAM ON UR PS3 SLIM AUDIO SETTINGS.- U WILL ALSO ENJOY HD AUDIO/TRUE HD,AND ON UR AVR IT WILL DISPLAY 'DOLBY TRUEHD'(this is AVR DEPENDANT TOO OF COURSE). Don't try to show off, type all capital letters . In the first place Kianwee was just replying that he agrees the FAT PS3 can't bitstream HD Audio. Don't try to give him lesson about LPCM which he already knows. This post has been edited by Ngto: Feb 26 2010, 07:34 PM

I think someone should make a sticky FAQ on Hidef Audio Video setting Seems that very so often some new guys got confused how to confirgure their system. Even worse, many people don't even know what their system is capable of.

Haha, those guys don't read what has been going on, just want to show how much they know only.... The HTZ-LX61 is actually a DVD Player HT System. As such it has no HD Audio decoding capabilities, but it does comes with a HDMI input for connection with a separate Blu-ray player which can do the decoding and send it to the LX61 as LPCM. Great that you remembered our conversation earlier on the HTZ-LX61 Quite right, the unit only capable of decoding DD Pro Logic II & DTS Digital Surround. To me, it don't matter if the display spells 'PCM' as long as the audio is not downgraded to DD 5.1 but in fact DD TrueHD? Quote from Pioneer: " With Pioneer’s latest Blu-ray players equipped with on-board Full-HD audio decoding, the HTZLX61 is Pioneer’s first home theatre system capable of accepting all of the latest Full-HD audio formats from either the BDPLX71 or BD51FD Blu-ray player (via HDMI), to deliver a Full-HD surround sound experience in your living room.
Unlike traditional home theatre systems, the HTZLX61 is packed with two HDMI inputs that will accept a Linear PCM signal, meaning the system can seamlessly connect to Pioneer’s latest Blu-ray players to forge one powerful Blu-ray home theatre system." BD-LX52 decodes DD TrueHD & DTS-HD. Thoughts, please

No further thoughts necessary. Whatever need to be said , have been said . Just enjoy your system, even if it doesn't light up the True-HD and DTS-MA logo, you know it's there.
