Hi if you really want to know the career prospect join Young Maicsa and meet your peers.

The question you need to ask yourself if what do you want to do. If you expect a few years after you graduate you will be able to be attending board meetings and giving advices, i think you need to be more realistic.

Most comsec's ( company secretary ) will start off in the secretarial services companies. Basically every company in Malaysia requires a comsec and the person who qualifies to be comsec are mainly Accountants, Lawyers and of course MAICSA members. Smaller companies that dont have one will outsource to these secretarial services companies.

Some of the key skills you may learn will be the requirements for documents submission/filling with regulators, listing requirements, conducting AGM's...etc

Most of the time big companies will have 1 comsec with a few assistant. They will be there to advise on regulatory matters but rarely get involves in business. Its not to easy to go from Secretarial Firms to be one of these comsec as the number of positions are limited.

Conversely if you are an ACCA / CIMA graduate you can be in Auditing, Finance depts where there are more vacancies and positions...( Exec, Asst Manager, Manager and Senior Manager).

Is the qualification highly recognized in other areas.. not really.

I am not saying this is a bad course to go for but be mindfull of what you are getting into.
