1. CIMB posts best-ever results
CIMB Group Holdings Bhdss net profit more than doubled to RM802.89 million in the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2009 (4QFY09) from RM318.6 million a year earlier, helping it to record its best-ever yearly financial performance.
2. Cabinet ordered Prasarana to buy stake in KLIG, says source
Public transportation operator Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd's earlier purchase of a 10% stake in a loss-making company, Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure Group Bhd (KLIG), was made after a cabinet directive to ensure that the 30% bumiputera shareholding requirement could be fulfilled, a source said.
3. MRCB back in the black for FY2009
Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) reported a net profit of RM12.41 million for the fourth quarter (4Q) ended Dec 31, 2009 from a net loss of RM39.3 million a year earlier due to an overall improvement in operational results.
4. LCL continues to bleed
Financially troubled interior fit-out (IFO) group LCL Corp Bhd continued to bleed in its fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2009 (4QFY09), with its net loss widening to RM334.7 million from RM17.4 million a year earlier.
5. Infineon plans RM180m capacity expansion
Infineon Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd plans to invest RM180 million in capacity expansion, developing new back-end technologies and upgrading its manufacturing facilities in Melaka this year.
6. Malaysia to raise ratio of domestic investment to 60% by 2020
The government aims to raise the proportion of domestic private investment (DPI) to 60% of total investment by 2020 from the 32% recorded last year, reducing dependency on foreign direct investment (FDI), said the Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
