Did you actually get I-Xcess (or whatever it's called) or is the WiFi there actually free?
*
i-xcess is the WiFi's name ^^ It covers almost the whole Lakeside Campus. It's not exactly free it comes with all the fees you paid ahaha XD
but generally speaking yeah it's free ^^ Just connect than open a browser and it'll ask for your Student ID and Password, the ones you use to access the computers in the computer labs and your all set to go ^^

Any idea how the parking will work and the cost once they start charging people?
*
So far parking in Lakeside is still free until June. July onwards, they will start charging. Though, they are in still the midst of discussion on the amount of fees that will be charged to the students. Basically, now you will need to register for a parking sticker from the student central in Taylor's lakeside campus. You should receive either a red or a green sticker. This will permits you to park in the campus itself. I'm glad to say that they have expand the parking spaces especially for the students that will be shifting to lakeside soon.

There are no hostel in Sri Hartamas. In fact, Sri Hartamas is really expensive if you want to rent a house here.

Oh, the food here are really limited, so you really have to bear with it for 1.5 years smile.gif. The food is on average, still possible to fill a stomache of an average male, but definitely not for those who eat a lot. RM 7-8 is the average money you will spend on acceptable food each day without drinks of course smile.gif.

Oh, i see.
Is there any other bio-related courses other than those stated? I remember there were also Nutrition, etc.
*
Unfortunately, Taylor's currently do not offer Nutrition. Though, Taylor's do offer Biotechnology and Biomedical. However, Taylor's University partner, University of Queensland in Australia do offer Bachelor of Exercise & Nutritional Science/ Bachelor of Applied Food Science (Food science and Nutrition)/ Bachelor of Science. You are able to further your studies with either one of the choices as stated in prior after the completion of at least 1 year of Biomedical Science in Taylor's. Following after that, if you are interested in studying Masters, UQ do offer Master of Dietetic Studies for 1.5 years in Australia.

Whoa, I was under the impression that you had to subscribe seperately if you wanted to use I-Xcess. dry.gif

Anyways, how was the parking like for this week since all the other faculties move in? I'm still on break for now, but I'll be moving in on Monday. I heard that once they start charging for parking, it's RM60/month for staff, by the way. It's just a rumour.

Also Hikari, do you work part-time for Taylor's or something? dry.gif

ahaha stuff like i-xcess is accessible to all students, no need to subscribe separately for that generally speaking it's free ahaha ^^ what gave you the impression you had to subscribe separately? Last time in your campus didn't have i-xcess?

Parking still same old same old ^^" if you come really early still manageable but chances are kinda slim if you come late a bit.
Parking is can be considered ok by standards of seeing the large amount of parking available though it is not nearly enough to accommodate all students but if you come early you should get parking though might have to walk a bit. From what I seen there's always parking at the other side at the furthermost parts next to the uncompleted commercial block just no one wants to park there and walk so far to the academic blocks ahaha XD
since they can't walk through the commercial block yet have to go kinda circle the lake lol.
The main problem nowadays for me is not the parking, but the jams in the morning has made a turn for the worst >.< it's damn slow practically not moving took some time to get into the lakeside from the road >.< and for some reason this week, I didn't see any guards controlling traffic at the junction, usually there will be a few taking care of the traffic there but I don't see any this week, I wonder what happened. Anyway nobody controlling traffic made the situation worst >.< Can't wait for the new access route to be finished in July.

They will certainly charge for parking after Phase 1 of lakeside is complete by July but the rates and all is still not confirmed.
Just would like to inform that we have forwarded most of the complains about Lakeside that we have accumulated ever since the move since January up till now directly to TUC's President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr. Hassan through some of my friends who are excos of the TUC Student Council.
He told us that all these issues has indeed reached him and discussions are happening between the top level Management of the Taylor's Education Group and also professionals from the outside very frequently to solve these problems and yes he is aware we are tired of waiting but these decisions can not be rushed and the ones they already have requires time to finish ( the commercial block for example which will increase parking about 600 more lots and way more options for food right from cafes, fast food, noodle house to specialty restaurants, when it is completed and also stuff like stationary shops and such will only be complete by July) so he asked us to be patient as they are working really hard to solve these stuff.

The only complaints that are not being taken so much into consideration are smokers complaining about the no smoking rule in lakeside, they want at least a smoking room or something like that. Personally I don't care at all about this complaints XP I'd rather them have to go out to smoke and action taken on those smoking on campus, there's a lot of better things to do in lakeside than a smoking room XP and the management doesn't seem to care about this complain much as well since they got a lot of other more important stuff to do and solve ^^

hum I do work with Taylor's sometimes, mostly I work for them during Events like Open Days, also in events like New intakes orientations,Career and employment fair, launch of the new Taylor's PhD programmes and stuff like that ^^
Kinda like to help out bits here and there as well.

Hi TS. I recently graduated from Taylor's Business School on December 2009 and now working overseas but still haven't get my official academic transcript and completion letter. Can you do me favor to ask for Business Division's phone number or email? I need to request for my academic transcript and completion letter since my company required me to give them some prove that I finished my degree course. Thanks and your help is so much appreciated. smile.gif

Thanks for the detailed reply, Hikari. ;p

So if I come early and get a spot, should I still expect to be double-parked over (with contact details provided, of course)?

well mostly you won't get double parked, it haven't happened to any of my friends for quite some time now, it happens less than it does previously since there's more parking though I do see some cars double parked once in a while, though that only happens in certain spots, get a good spot and you won't be double parked ^^

well nowadays I always arrive at that area around 7:40 or so since I have to send my sister who's in TCSJ first and usually around that time that place is already kinda jammed but still manageable but for some reason I don't know last week there was no guards controlling the traffic at the junction, last time there was once when my mum needed the car and my parents sent me I had to get off the car and started walking because the car was not moving much and I was already late for class >.< traffic moves very slowly into the place.

lol anywhere also got scholarship holder ^^"
there's excellent students with all High Distinction results and also students with all barely pass results in it.Stay with those with good results, your target in Uni is not to fail ma XD
Most TUC-UWE Dual Degree students are self paying students.
Nothing is easy in this world XD
You should know Business Administration is no longer having January and September intake like last time.
It has been changed to a Dual Degree programme between TUC and UWE, at the end of it you will get two degrees one from Taylor's and one from UWE and the intakes are now February and July.

Well the new Dual Degree programme just started last February therefore the first batch haven't even had their first semester exam yet XD
But the exam and all should be challenging and have the same standards as the UWE. Since nobody has repeated any exams yet therefore I got nobody to ask about that ^^" But try not to repeat anything ^^" At least get a pass if you can't score good results.

Just had my first day at the Lakeside Campus, and things are pretty bad IMO:

7:20 a.m. - jam's pretty bad on the LDP leading in to the turning into the housing estate:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

There's a pretty bad jam going all the way in, and there's even a trail of vehicles waiting to get out from the housing estates:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Apparently much of the jam is caused by this T-junction. It's really busy, even though it doesn't look that way in this picture. It's difficult for people to move out given all the traffic, and it doesn't help that some people don't use the signal when turning:

Around 7:40 a.m. - a large portion of the parking lots just south of Block E are taken up. I don't know why, but there's one lot nearest to the building that they keep empty. I thought the staff had reserved parking under the building. Most of the parking was limited to the stony bit of land without any tarmac. The guards directed me to a tight squeeze between two MPVs (not shown here):

In the lots closer to Block E that actually have tarmac and marked spots, the double-parking has already begun:

Overview of the Block E South parking lot at 2:30 p.m.:

I don't know why, but the campus seriously feels like an overcrowded shopping mall.

Where are the PCs in the library, and are there any other computers/printers that may be used elsewhere? dry.gif

as my friend said that's uni life a place where your surrounded by tons of unknown people ahaha
ahaha I told you the jams are damn bad XD hopefully when the alternative access route is finished in July it'll get better.
Seems today they took a some of our parking to accommodate the lecturers and staff coming from LCS, I have a fever today so was not there but that's what my friend posted on fb this morning lol seems it's true from what you've shown.Seems a lot of people are outraged by that @_@ time for more complains XD

The PCs in the Library are on the third floor. Go to the left most side of the library, there's two printers there and if I'm not mistaken two more printers on the fourth floor.

Also there's about 20 more computer labs plus three more mac labs and some more printers on the 7th and 8th floor of Block C and D.The IT help desk is on the 7th floor block D =)
