Ok... After hours playing FarCry 2 (using AMD GPU tools tweak) the graphics look very good (Graphics on High Settings)... kept me smiling and smiling...hahahaha..(my wife finds it odd, me playing the game with a BIG smile on my face) hahahahahaha...

First impression of this unit... It's freaking BIG... but with FULL HD, powered by Ati HD5870 and a blu-ray drive..it's all worth it... but Asus could or honestly speaking SHOULD atleast make the power adapter smaller..I mean, Look at it... you have to admit, the power adapter IS FREAKING BIG... what's up with that anyway?? That alone is 1.5kg/2kg...huhuhuhu...

Test playing several movies...pictures are great..heck, I even told my wife, no need for me to buy a Full HD LCD Tv...I have my G73..hahahahahaha.. Pictures a great, but the sound is only good.. still need to be connected to external speaker..(I like LOUD Sound or LOUD Music) hehehe...

Unit built is good, with rubberize external, the design is excellent..I really Love it...

All in all, worth every $$$.. really love this unit.. But with G53 with 3D coming out soon...hehehehehe I dunno if that Love could last....kekekekekekekekeke

Here's some unboxing pictures..

Great mini review . . . short and exact!  biggrin.gif

Oh yea, do you think that the USB ports on your right hand side are kinda too close with each other? I can't plug 2 thumb drives at the same time.  sad.gif
*
true, but since I'm used to have 3 usb ports, so it is not really a problem with me..hehehe...but come to think of it, my previous laptop have firewire ports...but maybe it's not widely used, so Asus did not include it in this model...maybe.. i think...

Hey guys. I TT'd to Gentechpc earlier this week but seems there was an additional charge along the line because the amount received by Gentechpc's bank was USD21 short (I paid Maybank's RM25 separately). Anyone else had this problem..?
*
maybe due to USD rate?? mine last time, just as they wanted to key in my tt, the rate changed (I specifically requested for the amount for my laptop in USD)...lucky for me the rate went down a bit, so maybank return back to me rm11++ hehehehe

Can u tell me what tweak that u did to make the graphic very good. I dont know what wrong with my screen or the laptop but the picture look very grainy. Been testing the screen with lots of blu-ray movies but each and every single one played with shitty quality. I played the same blu ray on my 50' tv and its great. Played using kmplayer with coreavc codec and cccp.

Please help. Been bugging me. doh.gif

Uhmmm, there isn't any program to make the graphic look good. I adviced Kaizoku to download AMD GPU Clock Tool they make his 5870 GPU stable because he couldn't run a game and was getting GSODs. The graphic card in our systems in combination with the RAM is causing problems with the reference ATI drivers. If you update any of the latest ATI drivers your system will hang and you will get a Gray or Black screen. You will need to shut off the power to your notebook and then restart. The only way to improve graphic quality is to use the latest ATI drivers as it improves the drivers adding functionality and bug fixes. The trade off is your system will get unstable and it might hang. To resolve this check my previous posts on the solution when using latest ATI drivers  wink.gif

I thought I would have escaped the problem but I was wrong. What's even scary is that's it evident on Kaizoku unit I bet that was just manufactured last month. The only way this is going to be resolved is for a new stable vBios from Asus like the one for MSI & Clevo for this situation to be resolved. Even with a new batch unless they change the whole production floor you will still get the same batch as us  tongue.gif

Amir: just like what viperion said...I downloaded the AMD GPU Clock tool..I only use that.. been thinking of flashing my vBios, but with the possibilities of bricking my unit, the AMD GPU tools is the only best option for me. I don't want a rm6k 17.3inch paper weight..huhuhuhu

Viperion: yups...i really2 hope Asus will somehow someday resolve this issue...for the time being, i am quite content with using the AMD GPU tool...

@Viperion

Thank you. I think I will wait for stable driver first. Scared might brick the laptop if I update vbios, since I bricked my brother PSP when updating firmware.  sweat.gif

After some reading and testing. Its seem the problems lies with the kmplayer. I tried playing blu-ray on window media player and the quality is acceptable. I should try to play movie with WMP earlier.

Your unit does not come with Cyberlink PowerDVD player?? Mine has, so i've been playing my dvd's only using that software.

You don't have to download tongue.gif Just call me when you are back down here wink.gif

Remember that list I mailed you earlier? I'm about 70% done on that list and it has actually grown since the last time I mailed you tongue.gif Just make sure you have a big external drive when you visit  laugh.gif
I haven't got to that one yet but everything I install goes to the default deskstop resolution of 1920X1080. Check your CCC settings or it could be the stock drivers from Asus but even that I remembered the first game I installed on my laptop was at 1080. It was C&C 3  tongue.gif

I might take you up on that offer..hehehehe..

I have asked Ken Lee regarding on this matter and below is the reply from him:
The G73JW and G53JW release date is end of September, we had to remove pre-order page since it violate nVidia rules since their Fermi launch date is September.
I'll let you know more update ETA when I hear from Asus.

IMHO, using photoshop would be easier as Paint.net is a little bit lack of functional buttons or access.  smile.gif

okok. just that i worry too much. =S

Oh yeah, not to forget, is adapter needed for the battery charger since it's imported? Works fine in Malaysia? All the ports and etc..

the Input power can be either 110V/220V, so no problem there...only that the plug you need an adaptor. We are using the British 3 pin plug, the unit came with US 3 pin plug...so need an adaptor for that.
