But it is $$$ pricey.

Hi,
Sorry for bumping old topic, but I am in the same predicament.
Planning to get a hearing aid for my dad (his hearing problem quite serious), but not sure what is the budget I should prepare for.
Also, what is the difference between the various brands? Like clarisound, widex, etc.
At the moment planning to go to the Brickfields shop (Hearing Solution) to check it out as it is near my office. I read in the papers there's supposedly some promotion there.
Anyone with any advice please comment here!
Thanks.

Pay a visit to Mid Valley / BP Pathlab / Hearing Solution.
First they will place the patient in a confine room wearing headphone. Then listen to sound and press a button. If the sound is too soft, and you don't press the button, the doctor will know then. After obtaining the result, it will tell you which side of ear is having and how bad is it.
Budget at least RM2k for a decent one. If budget limited, get 1 side...it's ok. My family are very happy when it help my mum can listen clearly again. We don't need to shout.

Thanks for the advice. I went for the Hearing Solutions one, tried a 1k+ one, but as soon as my dad gets to the lobby the noise level is too loud for him to hear anything. So we opt for the 3.7k one, after 25% discount (Mother's Day promo) it's 2.8k. Still too expensive, so we are buying only one side.

Finally bought my 90 year old mum a hearing aid.
From 20dB... Price is RM5400 per side. Now, I just bought one side only. Just come to know that hearing aid is not that simple but a very advanced piece of equipment. The person need to be trained to use it.
so every month, I have to bring my mom to the clinic for minor adjustment. This is necessary since after long time with hearing loss, her brain need to be train to hear again... of course this consultation visits are included in the price
