LOL. Managed to trigger the flash wirelessly at last. How? I only will tell you upon request, LOL. The reason it can't be triggered was because of  stupidity of mine. LOL

u didnt popup the built flash...

thats my guess...
*
QUOTE(lwliam @ Mar 8 2010, 06:31 AM)
u didnt set WL mode on flash/camera body?
*
he he he there's a lot of causes for that..
u have to set the WL mode in ur body..
u have to popup the built-in flash..
u have to turn ON the flash (F36, F42, F56, F58)
u have to turn the flash facing the body (the sensor)..
etc etc etc..

nah dont have to tell us coz we're not requesting drool.gif we rather guess ha ha ha..

cheers!

QUOTE(Fighteden @ Mar 13 2010, 06:44 AM)
lol .. okok
so back to the adapter .. anyone got anymore info about this?
*
i'd ask about this on the last thread..
and ended up buying 8mm samyang..

icon_rolleyes.gif there's an 0.22x converter for 55mm thread..
but it'll have vignettes upon using with 18mm.. no vignettes when used at 24mm and above..
18mm x 0.22 = 3.96mm
24mm x 0.22 = 5.28mm

there's also a .45mm converter
18mm x 0.45 = 8.1mm
24mm x 0.45 = 10.8mm

u can count the focal length for others also..
but its not recomended cause it'll degrade the image quality.. by a lot!

QUOTE(clivengu @ Mar 13 2010, 09:18 PM)
AhAhhAhhh bad news ! This evening while shooting outdoor... i attached my f42 on the light box ... a wind suddenly blown and the whole stand fall down...

Result: the clips for the hotshoe both Side broken ... now it can't fit to the flash stand nor camera ...omg..can it b fix ? Why r they in fragile plastic instead made from metal like other brand ;( any1 encounter this b4?

Today shooting become a bad session. No satisfying photos after the flash broken ;(
*
ha ha ha so nextime bring duck tape to attach the flash?
urm..
i think they build it with plactic to make sure the hotshoe is the only thing that gets broken..
imagine when the hotshoe is made from metal and when the flash falls then instead of JUST the hotshoe.. the whole flash get broken in two (or more)?

the same goes with the hotshoe connection port in the body..
imagine when a camera (attached with a flash) falls to the ground..
and because the 'attachment' is so strong then instead of the flash gets ripped o the body..
the flash suffer (broken into two/three parts) and the body also suffers..

so i think the hotshoe is sacrificed fairly..
he he this is just my opinion tho..
im using 2 bodies and both had fall from my grip and now i know why the plastic hotshoe is there in the first place..
i didnt work for the designing team but i think this might cross their mind upon designing the hotshoe...

QUOTE(clivengu @ Mar 13 2010, 09:57 PM)
I just hope their design intention is that the hotshoes part is a separate exchangeable piece. Looking at the bottom of d flash it does look like it can b change . If it can b change then is clever .. if not ill may b exhange a large portion of the flash. N cost me a bomb. Hope they can change it for a small price. I haven't check if my flash stand that attached with it is it broken too ..since both side also made from plastic ... pray ... luckily is not my f58 that is attached to the light box . Should have ask an assistant to take care of all the lighting setup ...wat a mess
*
just hope that it'll be those minor2 change lah..
nextime 'hire' a frind to be the lightstand ha ha ha

ha ha ha M7D ah? surely send back to u M7D WITH the body of 7D as it's cover.. clever eh?

QUOTE(albnok @ Mar 14 2010, 03:00 AM)
freddy manson: The 0.45x wide-angle converter I've had, does not really do 0.45x; it does the square root of it. They use 0.45x to make the number sound more impressive. Try using different focal lengths and you'll discover it really is a 0.67x converter. Of course the benefit is that you can remove the narrower angle of view caused by APS-C cameras.

And yes, it is designed to break at the hotshoe (as I've discovered myself!)

clivengu: I've posted about this sometime back. Yes it can be fixed, rather quickly too, since the F42 foot is a common part (notice it looks the same as the F58's foot!)
*
yup.. that's y now even im using N also. i still prefer to use my alpha when im doing heavy-duty jobs i.e shooting while hiking..
the N just stay in the bag for this kind of safety..
last time it slipped from my hand the hotshoe at the body broke the fall and a fren of mine quickly fixed it (replaced it) as he got a spare hotshoe at home from his dad who works in sony center..

about the FE converter.. i think that it's really funny thinking it can reach 3mm (attached to lens at 18mm)
8mm is quite broad already (180deg) so its kinddainsulting (in a way) that the converter (0.22x) can reach 3mm

anyway.. happy sunday morning! thumbup.gif

Is it for real... I mean the hot shoe on the body can be replaced? Is that applicable for A300 aS well?

P/S: really need confirmation biggrin.gif

YES IT CAN BE REPLACE!

ok.. so lets say i have 3k in my hands. should i get:

a) a550 body only (from sony)

or

b) get the Cobra, any 50mm prime, and a bigger bag.

?
*
from ur current one to a550 is surely a HUGE upgrade already..
get the body. then after a while u can sell ur current gear and get the cobra biggrin.gif

QUOTE(goldfries @ Mar 15 2010, 03:07 AM)
watching documentary now, suddenly come to a realization that Sony alpha range naming convention is like Airbus la. biggrin.gif eg Airbus A380.
*
yah last time watching discovery its "The Flight Of The A380"
then i was thinking "wah got sony documentation on astro" but then.. its the Airbus A380 ha ha ha

QUOTE(albnok @ Mar 15 2010, 04:15 AM)
freddy manson: I've seen 2 bad cases of Nikon droppage. One D90 fell from about 4 feet on its back, resulting in a warped shutter (it's supposed to be 3 flat pieces but 1 of them had a wave shape!) Repair was RM5xx. The other case was a D50 with the viewfinder 'frame' warped so you could see a upside-down Marlboro-logo shaped viewfinder.
*
thats why i put faith on my a350 when doing hikings.. coz i know if it fells from my hand then oni the 'soft' spot will get broken (if the fall is minimum lah)..
