I made a mistake, due to bad habit I accidentally folded a cheque into two doh.gif
It's not very tightly folded, but some crease is visible

After CNY I'll be depositing it into my Maybank a/c. Just a bit concerned the cheque may not pass the clearing process since now they're using CTCS.

anyone folded a cheque b4 and successfully recv'd the funds? tq

Should not be a problem unless it is torn or tarnished badly with the folded marks

Just as long the details on the cheque is not smeared or visibly impossible to trace, then it should be fine.

Every single time. I have the bad habit of folding whatever cheques that I got, and 99 out of 100 times the machine will grumble about not being able to identify the cheque. I just feed it in once again, and it'll accept the second time. no problems with the funds not being received

If u can't get through the machine then just deposit at the counter! they will charge you RM5 for PBB. Other banks not sure.

as long as the MICR line at the bottom of the check is readable by the machine or cheque clearing machine, it will not cause any problem

since u say u deposit into mbb. as i know mbb they do have the old style of envolpe cheq deposit machine.

if u really wry the cheq cant scan thru, u can opt to use that.

usually there will not be any problem in the scanning folded cheq unless the condition of the folded cheq is very bad or tear

when i was small i always thought you have to treat cheques like certs of some kind
then when i was working i asked the admin chick for the lulz can i fold the cheque.
she said sure you can fold it side by side or any origami shape i like
i tried and had been folding since and no problems with receiving the funds or delay in receiving them.
just don't fold untill the magnetic strip is very badly damagaed can already.

as long as the cheque is genuine and all the written parts are clearly visible, should not be a problem cashing it !
