I have a question for anyone who's ordered from the Dell website.
How long does it take to ship?

My dad is overseas, if he wants to buy an M15x for my birthday present could he use his credit card from there and just pay to have it shipped to my house here?

Aya complaints about shipping for M11x, I don't suppose shipping for an M15x will be any better? tongue.gif

I have a question for M15x or M17x owners:
I want to order the M15x that has an i7 processor. Is it okay to leave turbo mode on all the time when on the charger? Is it possible to set it so that turbo mode is off whenever I'm on battery?
Is it even safe to leave turbo mode on all the time?
I don't feel like having to go to the settings every time I want to play a game =\

DO WHAT YOU WANT CAUSE A PIRATE IS FREE, YOU ARE A PIRATE!
Nah, they had in mind that most games today are distributed through online services(I.E. Steam and stuff), so DVD drives aren't really used all that much today anyway.

Nah, I thought there was a turbo mode that you can use when on the charger so you can boost the performance of games.
IIRC original clock speed of the i7 is 1.6 something, then when on turbo mode it goes up to 2.8 or something

Oh, that's good then. That means I don't have to set anything to begin with and it does all the work for me. tongue.gif

Alright, my dad just placed an order on my Alienware M15x(YES!!!)
So he set the e-mail to my own so I can track it, so I got an e-mail with a reference number and a link to find the status.
I put the reference number and the e-mail and it gives me an error that I have to redo all the steps. How do I check the status? Where do I get my order number?

Oh ya. Whoops
Newai, super psyched about my M15x, I can finally play Crysis!
I bet I'm probably one of the 5 people in the world that actually play Crysis for the gameplay instead of the graphics XD

Oh sheesh, I nearly forgot all about the glossy screen. This is gonna be really bad.
Anyone had any problems with the screen? I take my computer outside sometimes and I can't stand it when my World of Warcraft character is blocked by the sun >_<

It seems that the SU4100(Overclocked@1.6GHz-M11x) and SU7300(Overclocked@1.73GHz-UL50Vf) difference in terms of performance not really different? Except the 2MB vs 3MB L2 Cache difference and virtualisation on the SU7300..

Jerry Jackson? Isn't that the guy that goes "HEY THERE MY NAME IS JERRY JACKSON AND THIS IS THE CARTOON WHAT OF WHEN LINKIN PARK CAME TO MY HOUSE. I MADE THIS CARTOON FOR U TO WATCH, I HOPE YOU LIKE IT AS MUCH AS I LIKE IT"? sweat.gif

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Mar 2 2010, 02:28 PM)
Hooray! After browsing through the M11X Optimization thread at NBR, I've accomplished 3 things:-

1. Enabled multi-touch on the trackpad! Yup, the M11X trackpad is multi-touch capable, with features like pinch-zoom, rotate, 2-finger scrolling and coasting, and 3-finger gesture-based app launch!

2. Downloaded the EVGA Precision app, designed to streamline GPU overclocking, once I decide to dabble on it later. There is another piece of software that I would need to download later, called MemSet, that is designed to tinker with the RAM memory clock setting, but I'll try the Precision app first to overclock the GPU before I go any further with MemSet. An NBR user reported crossing the 7k mark in 3DMark06 by overclocking his GPU using Precision and changing the memory timing with MemSet!

3. Downloaded SmartDefrag and now in the process of DeepOptimizing my M11X to speed up program launches by defragging them to occupy the outer section of the HDD disc platter for faster access. With all the games installed, this will help greatly in further optimizing the speed of launch of the installed apps/games.

I could go one step further by retweaking the Startup items, using CCleaner, but I see only two items that may be required for fast launch/fetch so I'm leaving it as it is at the moment.
*
Multi-touch? I hope the M15x is capable D:

Rwar are you saying I have to wait 2 weeks for my M15x to come?
I got another call today explaining why it's taking so long to process the payment, and they said that they're building a new one for me I'm like wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut
