6280 here. Not worried so much, it's basically a ball park figure. What's important is how it perform in real-time a.k.a game benches. C&C 4 in FOUR days, can't wait! rclxm9.gif

what happens to the WWAN addon search? hmm.gif

Hi, can the Intel X25-SATA SSD run on this baby?
*
Definitely. Any 2.5' SSD would work. Too bad the M11X doesn't allow two HDDs installation. Otherwise I'd already get the X25 SSD, slap it in as primary/Win7 drive and leave the 500GB as secondary. Finding a 2.5' 512GB SSD available locally here is almost impossible.

I've read on NBR that the attempt to install WWAN cards is blocked at BIOS level. You need Dell to ship the M11X with the appropriate BIOS version to allow this.

about the wwan sadly we can't add it because there is no wireless broadband anthena build in...if want to install it we have to open the lcd casing and install the anthena which i couldn't find it sell anywhere.

Yup, I expected as much. Also, I think since the WWAN option is available to the Americans only, the BIOS and WWAN card are tweaked to work only with the Gobi card with the respective provider, AT&T if I'm not mistaken.

This Saturday/Sunday then. I'll be back from Frankfurt by Saturday morning, and should be well-rested enough to be up, out and about by the evening. Otherwise, Sunday.

As for venue, you guys decide. I suggest a place where there's enough power point and free Wifi, which would probably limit it to Starbucks around town. Power points because we're running Alienwares here, and these beasts needs power.

Easy thing to check, is my sig. Other than the dates I posted there, I'll be in KL. Posting this from Frankfurt.

how long is the cable? 2 meters?
or isit short and u have to connect to extension to reach the back of desktop?
hmm, how long is the 3.5mm jack to ur headset basically.

This is what i meant..
it comes short, but the package itself provided the extension.
isit the same with alienware tactx headset? if yes, im definitely gonna grab the headset.

Thanks. You may be one of the very few people who "dont know what to do without me". tongue.gif I'd reckon a quite a few would be happy to see me gone, much less care if I die. biggrin.gif

if you never update you Command Center, its mean yours is the old version. you can download and install the latest one from Dell website smile.gif

Yup, that is the same overobsessiveness that I have myself. I'd mull and gripe and think about it, until I either fix it, or most of the time, made it even worse! laugh.gif Learnt my lesson though, I now just let it be.

Because of the Alienware lightup letters on the front screen, it made it looks like the screen is 4:3 instead of its original 16:9 size. It is slightly taller than it should because of that.

C&C 4 unlocking via Steam in 9 hours. Looks like I have to bring my M11X with me to Tokyo. Superfast line there also means immediate availability as well. rclxm9.gif

Leave the webcam driver, otherwise you'd run into problems naturally, when you're trying to log into your M11X on AlienSense. Nero shouldn't be any problem, although I find it quite useful.

Damn it, Steam pushed back C&C 4 release to March 19th! mad.gif

Or leave it in sleep mode. If your habit/routine involves having to turn it on often, rather than turn if off then reboot again, waking it from Sleep/Hibernate is faster than a full reboot.

I'm bringing my M11X for the trip to Universal Studios Singapore, I'll check if Hard Rock Hotel has complimentary internet access included with the stay package. Will just buy it through Steam, and leave it downloading all day long while I play in the theme park.

Also going to need the M11X to do some light photo and video editing from the Panasonic GH1 and Sanyo HD guncam I'm gonna use to document the trip. A moment of truth to see if the M11X is up to the task or not when it comes to HD editing.

Any lightweight photo/video editing software suggestions, fellas?

Looks like that "call for help" for photo/video editing apps is not necessary after all. Photobucket takes em all with simple edits, and Youtube now accepts HD videos, even raw Blu-ray .M2TS files. Just need a fast line to upload it all.

For anyone's info, the M11X OCed to 1.6GHz plays 1080p raw .M2TS files just fine. Had my trip videos transferred to the M11X and it plays those like a champ!

3D gaming is always taxing, exspecially on graphic cards on laptops. Unless the tech is already readily available, your graphic card needs to render the same frame twice to accommodate both eyes and de-sync them (hence the blurry edges, but reassembled as a projecting 3D image by your 3D glasses), and that takes only the more powerful cards to do so. Also since you're essentially halving the processing power of your GPU, you have to drop your resolution and texture quality settings down to get a favourable framerate.

Possible to send it back for exchange? Bought mine on 29/01/2010

Dell LCD Pixel Policy for returns.

Need at least 6 dead pixels before eligible for returns/replacements.

The LCD Pixel Policy link I posted does not cater the many different "persuasion" level, so you may try your luck. tongue.gif I certainly applied my own "persuasion techniques" during the order phase of my M11X. Got mine expedited and more.

Its enough for the games I played. So far its Dragon Age, Sims 3 and some PSX and GBA games on emulators. Thinking of adding Oblivion if I can find the DVD.

Ive run Photoshop CS3 on it. Its decent. Those adding rendering effects could take a while, but for normal usage? Its doing okay. But for those who really wants a simple, quick and lite photo editing solution, why not try Photoscape? Its FREE! I've used it for many months now, sometimes, even when doing stuffs for work!

Thank you for that! I've asked that same question before but got zero answers. Needed it for quick editing of my USS trip photos. In the end, I just uploaded them to Photobucket without editing, just a simple resize. Raw!
