The Plasmas are yummy. Tongue dripping.

Only thing is when can we get it on our shores esp the 63". Like the Ultra Slim panels.

Bro Braveheart, may I suggest the PN63C8000 model for U? thumbup.gif

I can only look and pray for the PN50C6500 model which is a direct replacement for the 2009 PN50B650 model. sad.gif

Bro, not necessary to go for the highest if the specs are quite similar.

My main priority is for viewing and not too many tech gadgety esp software etc etc as you know i am a total noob in this area.

Don't know what will be the price structure like.

You should also go for the 63" as the 50" will look smaller than your present one if you were to mount it to the wall.

Plasma vs projectors cannot be compared.... It is totally different.

If u have a light controlled room, projector is the way to go, as the sheer size will allow you to forego the black levels and contrasts.

However, if u don't, plasma is the only option. Especially for sports and all.

However, with the LED light source coming into the projectors, I believe in 3-4yrs we shd be making good progress. The colour accuracy of the LED light source and the bypass of the heat up time since there is no UHP light source, makes it very much as the next thing.

The "unconfirmed news" is that the lower end C6500 will be available in US market in March and the higher end models will follow in Apr/May timeframe. The other day during the Sammy roadshow in Queensbay the sales person told me for Malaysia market they will all be released around May/June timeframe, just in time for World Cup. But I'd reckon they will be available sooner than that if they want a piece of the pie from the World Cup sales...

Every brand will be launching their new models before the World Cup starts. Lots of buyers hunting around are just waiting for this time. That's for sure if not they will miss the boat and lose a sizeable market share.

Notice how for the power consumption differences they show a dark scene....sneaky

Also a lot of this stuff that they are putting up is stuff that was already on some plasmas almost 2 gens ago. However, it is improvements in their panels. The one thing that I would need to see is how they improve on the known IR issues from their panels. One strength that they always had was they always had the less noise in colours and dark areas compared to their competitors. Black Levels will improve.

Single layer, new cell structure, AR coatings.

I also believe that they are finally releasing ~3.5 Lumens/W (or in the region) tech in this years Sammys as the lower power consumption seems to be in line with that.

Samsung is a force to be watched. They need to improve on their reliability and I believe with the current hoopla over Panasonics response to the black level rises will see Sammy getting a foothold in the plasma category pretty nicely.

Bro u mean the picture with the wattage shown on external display? I think that is a coincidence it was a dark scene. IIRC I saw the live video for it before, got day and night scenes.

I agree about the IR issue. Hope the 2010 models eliminate or at least reduce it.

Oh , I did not see that. Anyway, shd ask plasma guys to put it beside a LCD.

Power consumption is something that plasma manufacturers will only get the upper hand when they embrace 5 Lumens/W and 10 Lumens/W tech.

I just did some observation regarding pricing between samsung tv in malaysia and Australia (since i figure that pricing in Malaysia would be more comparable to australia than us). I compared the pricing (MSRP) between samsung LED C7000 for size 40, 46, and 55. What i found is that the price in malaysia is higher by 8-28%. Now, putting this price increase factor, i tried to guess what is the price for C7000 plasma 50'. With samsung aussie announced that the price will be at aud2499, using that increase factor, the price in malaysia would be between RM8300-RM9900. If this is real, than we can see a sub 10k 50' 3D tv in malaysia.
And im sold for that.... tongue.gif

Guys, I just bought the new samsung plasma tv series 430.
But the while viewing Astro, the picture is not good at all.
Only a BIT better then my samsung lcd tv series 5 but the colour more blurry than the LCD.

Anyways that I can improve the picture quality?

saw samsung PS42C451 in sen* for about rm2199 with 3 yrs warranty. is this a new model? i cant really find online review about this model but there are for PS42C450. it has usb port and can play picture/music/video. not sure where it plays mkv files.

how's this samsung plasma compare to LG (eg: 42PJ350) or Panny (eg: 42X28K) or other same price range plasma? LG also got usb support movie files. panny has no usb but only sd slot sad.gif

Just bought C6500 at 5k (free hdmi cable). Its a bit expensive compared to a shop that a forumer told me. Waiting it to be delivered this evening.

Hi guys,
I was recently in KL and saw the PS63C7000. It was absolutely gorgeous! Deep blacks, fantastic PQ and very good 2D to 3D conversion. Anyone had a chance to view this yet?

Anyway, I live in Kuching, Sarawak. After contacting all the tv stores here, none is willing to get one in for me. So, how do I go about getting one back from KL?

Does anyone have any experience sending tvs through air cargo? Is it safe? Because if the panels crack during shipping, I'm not covered under the warranty.
Thanks.

I saw it yesterday. Priced at RM18k before discount. Indeed an impressive set with the price.
It's not advisable to send it via air cargo as it might be exposed to improper handling.
Even placing the package on side or upside down would damage the plasma panel.
Someone did mentioned it in AVS forum. It's not wise to take the risk.

You're right... Not worth exposing it to any risk with that price tag. It could be why so many people are getting buzzing sets, probably caused during transportation. I guess I'm just being overly optimistic. So I'll just have to wait then.

Thanks for getting me out of doing something stupid! thumbup.gif

Saw the PS63C7000 today in Harvey Norman. Very impressive.

I was there to look at the Series 6 55C6900 though.

Might have just changed my mind!

Hi
Anybody bought this set and what's the current price (PS63C7000)? One shop offerred RM12.3K plus free 5 year warranty and 3D starter kit. It's a good deal compared to Pana 50 inch VT20 @ RM15K. Thnx.

IMO, samsung plasma (720p or 1080p) is good in upscaling SD content.
