Tesco should have sell those seperate weight. Can't remember the price but I'm pretty sure I saw them selling. Don't expect the weights to be clean and shinny. The one I saw was a quite dirty but a little clean will do.

Walk into one of those small local gyms and ask if they have any spares they would be willing to sell. I did this at my university gym many years ago. The boss saw my enthusiasm and ended up giving me some old plates and bars for free.

If you're good at blagging, give it a go, you never know.

Buying used weight are the way to go for lifting at home. Here are some ideas for buying used barbell and dumbbell plates.

i get you, i sold my 10kgs onlie a year back in a 1-2days upon posting it up..

for dumbells, get them at tesco/carefour.  you could also build your own Kettler dumbell by getting the bar from a Kettler outlet and the weight plates from Jusco during sale.

A 10kg dumbell will cost you around RM60-75 this way.(maybe less)

I think Tesco are cheap...

but i do realize that not all weights fit all holes... and i dont see them writing the size of the holes... at home i had two sets of different sizes, luckily I can still use them for different purpose, so the heavier is fitted on the slightly smaller rod.

You know how Zimbabwe is like, one of the poorest places on earth? I've always wondered why you cant order weights from Zimbabwe. Would it be dirt cheap? Well then again you'd probably order a package and it's filled with just dirt. That's probably all they have... and that's probably why it's dirt cheap. I mean 1 USD would set you up for life over there.

... on second thought having 1 USD would probably get you shot by a kid carrying an AK-47 who'd then eat you for food.

Ok scratch the Zimbabwe idea. But really there's got to be other countries that are unbelievably poor that have stuff we want. Why not just buy it from them. That's what the west does and look at how well it works.

What you need to do is find an incredibly poor country, that has weights, then buy it from them.

Added on July 12, 2011, 8:17 pmYou know I just realized!!!

- incredibly poor country

- has weights

- is nearby

Dammit we're sitting right on top of one! INDONESIA!!! Of course! 1 ringgit is like 10 billion rupiah!

I'm really surprised none of you thought of this. See that's why I'm the brains around here.
