Six burnt to death in fiery car-trailer crash

SEREMBAN, Feb 8 – Six people trapped in a burning car were burnt to death after the car they were travelling in was involved in an accident at KM252 of the North South Expressway, near the Senawang Toll Plaza, at about 1.30am this morning.

Police could not immediately determine the identify of the six charred remains of the victims as their bodies and the car were completely burnt beyond recognition.

The remains were later sent to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban for post-mortem examination.

According to a police spokesman, the six were trapped inside the ill-fated car that was believed to have lost control and crashed into a trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the expressway.

The impact of the accident and the ensuing explosion threw the engine of the car into a drain about 50m away from the scene of the accident.

“The car may have been driven fast and lost control before hitting the parked lorry, a trailer, that was laden with goods believed to be granite powder. The lorry had broken down since yesterday afternoon,” he told reporters at the scene.

A witness, Rashid Razali, 38, who lives in Taman Seremban Selatan about 150m from the expressway, said he was washing his car when he heard a loud explosion.

“After the explosion, I saw fire. I and a few neighbours rushed to the expressway to investigate and saw a smoking engine,” he said.

“We tried to get closer to the burning car but retreated when there was a second explosion from the wrecked car. The fire was very intense and the car was a total wreck due to the impact,” he said.

Firemen from the Seremban 2 and Senawang Fire and Rescue Department who arrived in three fire engines, took about three hours to extricate the bodies, after using a crane to lift the trailer. – Bernama

fatigue / bad driver decision to drive when tired.

the parked lorry maybe broke down there but if he was stopping for a snooze he should stop at the next rest stop.

but either way it should start with the car driver to make a decision

it's sad... they probably all died from the impact(inertia force) than from fire.. can't fathom a car accelerating all the way to impact..

most car crash tests are simulate at much slower speed..

yeah.. especially if the deceased were one of the required signatories for salary paychecks (as do most family-orientated business would be)..

the lost is huge.. imagine.. the whole family just evaporated, akin to the chinese malevolent saying 'ham ka chan'... it's sad sad.gif

u think when driving bmw u are very save?
u cannot die with those abs, ebd, vanos, traction control, 10 airbag, etc ????

that's what happen to dumb people when they get their hand on powerful cars....

if u speeding at 100 km/h and hentam lori, even if u inside kereta kebal, u will also die...!!!!!!!

the engine was found 40 meter away from the crash site...
me think he is probably speeding very fast

yeah crash testing is done at the speed where the majority of accidents occur between 60-90km/h only i think, not at terminal velocity.

read from kosmo, they said it's the all new 7 series worth rm800k.
even a tank that hit a stationery trailer also can't survive, what more a car. even with super duper latest technology and safety etc

he's rich enough to afford one

edit: might be a 5 series instead not 7

ppsst.. understand a lil bit first before you kencing around..

i was only referring to the condition of the car.. without any reference to either the drivers or the passengers (knowing the fact that at any given high speed collision occurring, i'm not tryin to be smart, arguing the probability of surviving such crash to begin with)

when there's a total collapse of the car's structure/chassis.. my guess is, bmw would also be interested to find out and perhaps collect some data since it's a new car..

speeding in a bmw feels safe nobody inside the car will know you're speeding...

read somewhere that's it's not a new 7, but a used one. maybe a used 5 series e60. look at the rims and judge yourself

blame trailer for parking at roadside. Govt must set new rules. No trailer can park at road shoulder. The offenses should be jail for 3 week national service.
