GT Planet member Blitz187 got to do an interview with representatives of Sony at a Gran Turismo 5 press event that took place in Benelux, Amersterdam. He states that much of the information he gathered at the media event is already known news regarding the upcoming title. Here is what was revealed: 

In-Game Menu:

5. Used Car lot
6. Dealerships
7. GT Auto
8. Practice
9. Tuning Shop
10. Photo Travel
11. Official Events
12. Car Delivery
13. Open Lobby 

The B-Spec feature will allow players to log into the game from a PC or mobile device and participate in races  Special Events Menu: 

1. Karting Experience
2. AMG Driving School
3. Stig Challenge
4. NASCAR driving school
5. Red Bull Sebastian Loeb Rally Challenge
6. GT Rally 

Other features that have been announced: 

1. Crosstalk: Will allow all GT PSP owners to transfer their cars to the arcade mode of GT5
2. Manufactures Museum: A source of information about the car manufactures within the game
3. Damage: Will be linked to the setting (difficult, medium or easy)
4. Track Maker: Will have the ability to be saved, downloaded and shared. Weather will also work in conjunction with generated tracks.

The online portion of the game will be connected to “Global Servers”. While it is not entirely clear what this means, it likely indicates that different versions of the game (NTSC, PAL) will be compatible with one another. As you may recall, in GT5 Prologue, in online events you would only be matched with other players using your respective version, preventing US players from playing with those from Europe, and vice-versa.

When the Gran Turismo 5 Collector’s Edition was first announced, Sony said “quantities will be limited”, but they didn’t go into details. It looks like they weren’t kidding, though, as two of arguably the most popular US gaming retailers- Amazon and GameStop – have both stopped taking pre-orders for this version of the game.

Customers who already reserved their CE copies have not been contacted about any problems or changes with their order, but both retailers have taken down their respective product listings (old links here and here are non-functioning or direct you to the standard version). Amazon and GameStop have been the most aggressive promoters of GT5, with GameStop securing exclusive content for the game and Amazon offering release-date delivery, attracting the most links, attention, and presumably orders.
