Hardly used my newly bought Studio XPS 16. Just dislike the glossy surface.  Makes the laptop look less professional in a business environment.

However, anyone tried to install Windows XP successfully without any driver complications?

minf if i ask y u want to use XP??

You know how did I partitioned? I call Dell XPS Service hotline, call up their technician, let them remote to my laptop and do it for me.
How about that?  rclxms.gif

Hi guys,

I am wondering how much can my Studio XPS 1340 fetch?
If it's a reasonable price, I'd sell it.

Specs:
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P9500 2.53 GHz
4GB (2 X 2GB) Dual Channel 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
320GB (7200 RPM) SATA Hard Drive
NVIDIA® GeForce® 256MB
6 cell 56 WHr Li-Ion Battery

It is 1 year + old.

1. Why Dell only provide Win7 64bit but not 32bit?
2. The new GPU with i5-520 should be able to support Starcraft II?
3. The display connectivity let us hook it up to LCD. However, is it possible to hook up to 2 LCD? Wonder if such converter / splitter exist, to let us view 3 screens.
*
1. 64-bit has become the mainstream. Dont worry about driver, now 64-bit driver is very easy to find conpare to last time. 1 advantage of using 64-bit is it can utilise more than 3.25GB of ram while 32-bit only can utilise not more than 3.25GB
2. Yes. I predict it can even run on high setting
3. Yes but I'm not sure what does it call and how much it cost. I saw it in a video.

Hey guys, do u think the current XPS 16 promo (RM2999) is worth it?

Honestly I'm only afraid that in future that the spare parts for this model finished/EOL since it's old tech.. (I think it's fine for processor & GPU not up to date)

Is it true that if under warranty & laptop beyond repair, dell will refund the $$ to buy dell product?

My configuration would be..

Alpine White 15.6 " 1080p WUXGA (1920x1080) WLED Full HD Display with 2MP cam
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 3MB Cache)
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit (English)
4GB (2 X 2GB) Dual Channel 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
3-year XPS Premier Service with 3-year CompleteCover
1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670
6-Cell (56WHr) Li-Ion Primary Battery

RM3763 after RM200 redemption
RM3613 if add RM150 coupon

Pls advise  notworthy.gif
*
if u dont need full hd screen, u can opt for lenovo Y460 which has better graphic card and newer processor.

QUOTE(JCogent @ Jun 12 2010, 09:34 AM)
I bought 3 SXPS for my company, one of them is i5....same problem also wink.gif
But after much testing...there're actually 3 possible causes:
1) Power adapter
2) BIOS
3) Creative Sound Blaster
*
my advice, uninstall this, coz it clash with IDT
QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Jun 12 2010, 09:58 AM)
Should be around RM180...
