feel any improvement in gaming performance?

Somehow more laggy LOL tongue.gif Will test it again thoroughly tonight smile.gif

And one more disturbing thing, i noticed my GPU temperatures are slightly higher this time around. And my Media Players(WMP and KMP) seem to lag even more.Don't know why this is happening though

QUOTE(Rishy @ Apr 1 2010, 02:45 PM)
is the screen upgrade worth it ?
*
Depending on how you see it

RGBLED is touted to have inaccurate colours with over saturation but some see it as just plain beautiful. In this case it's really up to the buyer. The saying 'beauty lies in the eye of the beholder" does play its part here.Do visit computer shops which displays both types WLED and RGBLED backlight to experience it yourself smile.gif

And also, think whether is the RM690 upgrading it justified? With that extra $$, one can easily upgrade to a BD rom.Else there's always Ram and HDD upgrades which might appeal to some biggrin.gif

Extra warranty is always a welcome as you might not know what might happen in the future.Just to be wary in this case laugh.gif

So, its really up to you nod.gif

Hi all, I'm using XPS16 Core i5-520 with 4GB ram and bluray drive. But whenever I watch bluray disc, it will lag, may I know is this normal for XPS16?

Thanks.

I assume you're using WMP to play the BDs?Mine lags too when playing 1080p content.Don't know why but KM player seems to handle it better albeit the lags also smile.gif

How about trying out Power DVD?

No i highly doubt the HD4670 or the P8700/i5/i7 are not able play it well. These are powerful stuffs ya know smile.gif Heck i even hear a person with a HD4870 rig complains of lag when playing 1080p video.Even my dekstop has troubles too

Most likely software or driver issues or even the media player settings.Haiz sad.gif

Will be asking around at Technical Support section smile.gif

Installing codec pack would help?Or is it that the 1080p videos we download have poor codecs?

Pretty good actually although i don't want to experience using that laugh.gif

Will sayang my SXPS 16 more wub.gif *pat pat* wub.gif

Btw, anyone experiencing 1080p video lag issues. After installing K lite codec pack, 720p videos and below are much much smoother now, 1080p is smoother also but still lags a bit.Haiz, is mkv 1080p that hard to decode cry.gif

If all you're doing is watching compressed HD movies, i.e., H.264 in MKV/AVI etc containers, you don't really need K-Lite codec pack, just download the latest Media Player Classic Home Cinema x64 version. The beauty of this player is that it uses the graphics card to decode the movie for smooth playback, while some players like VLC are software decode only, that means it relies totally on the CPU.

If you're playing a BD movie straight off the BD-ROM/RW drive, then it should be smooth even for a normal C2D since it doesn't involve decoding (cos BluRay is uncompressed thus easier to play). All it needs is the proper licensed hardware (Full HD compliant).

1080p mkv still lags when using Media Player Classic/KM player and WMP even with K lite installed and the newer updated CCC version 10.3.In fact, i don't remember any lag in my videos when using 8.3, only to find problems after updating to 10.3 rclxub.gif

After uninstalling my CCC 10.3 which i plan to install back the default 8.3 later,i found out that all my videos run smoothly be it 720p or 1080p,all ran well.

Could it be that CCC isn't really compatible with Windows 7 64-bit

Guys, can confirm with me on this. Those who find their videos being laggy especially for 720p and 1080p,or any video, try uninstalling CCC and see whether u can notice any difference in video smoothness smile.gif

MY XPS 16 tends to crash/hang out of the sudden... sometimes several times in a few hrs. very frustrating. dunno what's wrong with it... the ram and processor usage are only utilized half.. so i dont think it's insufficient ram or etc. anyone facing this prob?

also, my taskbar will disappear (with only the 'windows start' button available after having left my laptop idle for some time.. and all these happened after i installed the latest windows updates and fixes. did u guys encounter these issues too?
*
Does this happen right after you on you laptop?Because i did experience "hangs" and freezes when i just started my lappie, and straight away buka Mozilla. But fortunately, its a thing of the past biggrin.gif

1)Are you using it in an air conditioned room?
2)What's your specifications?

My advice, invest in a good cooler.Expect to deduct around 7-8C from those temperatures smile.gif You'll notice that the touch pad area/keyboard area is not so hot already..

I saw a shop selling two brands in Mid Valley,RM18 each.Thin and can be easily folded-seems good. It's DIY type so you lazy folks better know how to cut it into the appropriate sizes tongue.gif But, for no apparent reason,i didn't buy it laugh.gif

Do have a look smile.gif
